“Great stay!”

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a groupon deal. Was met by friendly staff who checked us in. Went up to our room no 207, which was large and clean and had fantastic views of loch Fyne. As other reviews have stated rooms could do with updating but if you are sad enough to sit in your room and take photos of mould around the bath and complain about every little thing then don't book here, if your like us and a room is somewhere to dump your bags and get your head down then it's great. Ate in the restaurant on first night and meal was fantastic, as was the breakfast!

Stayed in room 105 for one night with my wife and two children. Room very tatty and so dull! Needs complete refurbishment to brighten up the room and bring it into the 21st century. There was cellotape holding the wallpaper together, ripped curtains, dull lighting, awful green paint in the bathroom with white splodges of all over the wall, and the room was on a slant, but that could be due to the age of the hotel. The two stars I have given are for pleasant staff and a very good breakfast in a nice room.

We booked a room with one night and not much money to spare as newly-weds. In a nutshell, the entire experience was lacklustre. An OK, though dated room with an en-suite that looked and smelled mouldy. Nice view of the loch though. Staff were indifferent, food in restaurant very average and the bar impersonal. luckily, we'd have been happy anywhere but won't be staying there again. Disappointing.

Stayed 3 nights in The Argyll in room 211, end of January. Decent sea view, down over the boats in the harbour. Four poster bed very cosy and room very clean. Bathroom freshly decorated and very clean too. For £85 a night you can't beat it, it's exactly half the price of the George around the corner. Breakfast was okay, buffet style for two of the mornings not to my taste especially but they did have kippers for an alternative which my partner greatly enjoyed. Lounge bar comfy enough but a bit lacking in atmosphere on a January evening. Didn't try the grub at night but they do 3 courses for £20 in the dining room and there was food available in the bars. Staff very welcoming and extremely helpful. In short, great for a couple of nights but nip round to the George if you're looking for atmosphere in the bar.

Room Tip: Ask for 211, I believe it's the "best" room.

We stayed in the hotel in late 2013 with a voucher and arranged for a room upgrade. The room we ended up in was really nice and there was a bit of a view of the sea. The main reason for the 5 star rating though is the helpfulness of the staff, who came to our assistance when we had a flat tyre outside of the hotel and helped try to take the nuts off the wheel. It turned out the nuts had been practically sealed onto the wheel and we had to get a professional mechanic to do it back in Glasgow, however the staff in the hotel definitely went above and beyond with trying to assist us, so thank you for that.

Room Tip: The room upgrade when booking with a voucher is definitely worthwhile

Directed here by the cafe opposite as it had downstairs toilets. Had a nice cup of freshly brewed coffee. Waitress very pleasant to speak to. Handy for coach park. Would have had lunch here if there was time.

was working up in this area with a co-worker and stayed overnight in the argyll.
reception was a delight with the young lady who gave us our rooms and nothing was any trouble.
the room i had had a great view over the loch but, it was only suitable for workers looking for a place to stay, the decor was quite a mess, the tv was very old fashioned with 5 channels and the remote didnt work, the shower cubicle was very small and the shower head very loose, plenty warm water though but poor pressure, coffee/tea making facilities great and shower gel etc in the toilet. clean enough room though and had a great sleep.
i have stayed here a few times with my wife and the rooms we had were of a totally different standard so dont be put off by my single room comments if you are planning a holiday here, the hotel overall is very enjoyable, and an ideal base if you are planning on doing a tour of the sights and attractions.
the meals i have to say were fantastic so i have no complaints there and the service was excellent.
a great place to stay for a holiday in the area, yes i would take my wife back anytime and i would stay again if working ,so argyll hotel, get the single rooms spruced up and make them pleasant not dingy.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms at the front offer a great view of the loch
