Had several meals at the Hotel recently, as well as popping in for a drink. Really old hotel in Inveraray. Food excellent, great range of whiskies - most overpriced - but as it is mostly tourists who use it - they don'get complaints. The little bear garden is well used - even in bad weather. Worth a visit if you are in the area,

We stayed here for 3 nights in August and had the usual great experience here. We have visited The George many, many times over the last 20 years and are never disappointed. The hotel has changed significantly from the the mid 1990's when they used to pull the pool table out of the wall in the main bar, it was to the right of the fire, during the winter months and even the toilets were located behind the fireplace but that is a little history lesson. It has been expanded over the years to what it is now and despite losing some of its charm, we are always really happy to park the car and head up to the Merchants room. Food has always been very high quality and the bar staff are usually very friendly. There is live music through the summer months, some of the acts have not been my taste but generally they are good. This hotel does not need to advertise its rooms or facilities because it doesn't have to, the number of people who return year after year and word of mouth is testament to the fact that the owner is clearly doing something right. If I was asked to recommend one hotel in Scotland to stay in, this would be it.

My wife & I have been visiting The George for 10 years now. We've seen it grow but retain it's homely atmosphere & amazing food & hospitality. We look forward to many more years visiting The George & introducing more friends & family.

Stayed in the First House for the weekend with my boyfriend. Great Loch View and a great quality room! Ate in the hotel both evenings and the food was superb. Lovely friendly staff too. We will be back!

We stayed two nights as a birthday treat for my partner. Was not cheap - we were staying in one of their fancier rooms to take advantage of the wonderful open fire - but we took advantage of their buy one night, get a second half price deal. However, it was extremely good value for money as we had a very luxurious and comfortable stay. All staff (and locals!) were friendly and helpful. And the food is excellent and fairly priced. Would definitely stay again. :)

Room Tip: We were in room 5 - bit pricier but totally worth it as it's the only one with an open fire. Fantastic for a cozy and comfortable night in winter. A little noisy from the kitchen fan below though, so if you're a light sleeper, take earplugs.
