“Wonderful little hotel!!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

The Craigellachie Hotel is nothing short of AMAZING!! My husband was I charge of booking our Scotland vacation and he chose this hotel for our 2 night stay in the region to tour the Aberlour and Macallan distilleries. He did really well ladies!! Upon check in, our suite was complete with pink rose petals on the king sized bed, a dozen chocolates and huge bouquet of flowers! Having traveled all over Europe and England, this room was nothing short of huge and inviting! The bathroom was complete with all the luxurious amenities needed and the bedroom was oversized with plenty of room to spread out. There is no AC, but we were quite comfortable with the windows wide-open, dispute being near the highway, the noise was very minimal and there were zero bugs to speak of. The restaurant, The Copper Dog was great for breakfast, and closed to hotel guests only. While the menu simple, it was straight to the point. The dinner menu (open to the public) was varied and had great nightly specials. I suggest letting the front desk know you're interested in dinner to ensure you get a table! My husband had found (and picked) fresh rhubarb one day, and upon returning to the hotel, ran into the chef. After chatting briefly, he asked if we would like a rhubarb crumble for dessert - duh, of course we would!! Not only was dinner top notch that night, so was our custom dessert...as is the customer service! I would definitely return to this hotel, as well as recommend it to any traveler!

Popped in for an evening meal, great atmosphere, live music, friendly and helpful staff....and blown away by how good the food was! Really excellent meals and I would eat there all the time if it was closer.

We stopped off here on our way home down south, what a treat! Lovely building and excellent food and friendly staff - very welcoming. We would definitely make a point of calling again next time we're in Scotland.

I stayed at The George with my girlfriend for our final stop of our 5-day trip through Scotland.

We booked the Merchant room on a 'Sunday Snug' deal.

Upon arrival you are slapped in the face with the smell of an old boozy/smokey pub which i found quite fitting/amusing, however my girlfriend did't find it appealing.

Check-in was swift and abrupt. We weren't offered assistance with our luggage nor shown to our room.

As we entered the room, it smelled like 5 cans of wood polish/varnish had been used and it all looked a bit unclean. Lamp shade crooked, curtain rail not properly installed, creased bed-linen.

The room's themed decor i thought was quite amusing but my girlfriend found it rather tacky.

It was pretty noisy throughout the night especially as we had the windows open to have some fresh air and they overlook the car park and hotel bins.

The dinner at the pub downstairs was good and we enjoyed it.

Breakfast however wasn't amazing.

All in all pretty average and could use a good clean.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome - including the dog. The room was clean and bathroom huge! Dinner was high quality as ever and the service was excellent - despite being rammed and catering for a wedding. Breakfast huge - the fruit salad fresh and clean. Why stay anywhere else in Inveraray? We wouldn't and we've tried.

Absolutely brilliant pub. Delicious food, great atmosphere, super friendly and helpful staff, offered gluten free menu options including GF bread. They also had a band on the night we were there which added to the great atmosphere and lent itself to a fun night.

Def recommended. They didn't have any rooms available there unfortunately but would have loved to have been able to stay there so all in all, if you're up in these next of the woods definitely head into the George. Enjoy! :)

Check in - ok but no help offered with bags had to tell them I had booked the summer breeze deal.

Room - no bubbly in room as described in the deal (it was dumped on a table outside the room after we had unpacked and went to go out we found it) the bedding was clean and the room overlooked the loch, that's all that was good about it. The bathroom was filthy, no hot water.

Food- this was fine

Staff - utterly miserable no smiles all look fed up

Would not stay here again

Room Tip: None they're all manky
