We were staying in the area so decided to visit, being Trust members we like to support. The girl on reception was lovely and friendly and advised us of the best walks to do it the time that we had, We managed to do the extended white and navy walks - what a delight. The gardens and views were stunning. We really enjoyed the visit and would definitely return.

This garden is just south of Inverary and is spread along a wooded gorge. It has fine azaleas and rhododendrons, a stream running through and makes for a pleasant hours` stroll along well-kept paths.

Crarae garden is a pleasant place to visit, with plenty of rhododendrons, azaleas and other acid-loving plants. But it really is nothing special when the rhododendrons and azaleas have finished flowering. The walking is a bit uphill and down dale as well. I wouldn't bother unless you have time to kill.

Base on what we saw in Inveraray, I would assume that this garden is in a micro-climat since many of the rhododendrons had already bloomed. This being said, this a very nice gardens with lovely trails nothing very difficult. Cafe house is nice. But service can be slow!

It was a glorious day when we visited and we took the high trail which is clearly marked. It’s such a relaxing garden with wonderful trees and tranquil mini glens. There are a few steps and be careful with small children as there are sheer drops. There’s a lovely tea shop and we picnicked in the car park for two hours soaking up the sunshine and views over the Loch. Definitely worth a visit.
