“Great Location and even Greater Hosts”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

The house sits with a commanding view of the Oban harbor! The bay windows in our room had a million $ view! Our hosts were extremely attentive, helpful and friendly. You feel like a guest in their own home. The house had loads of character and good amenities. The bathroom in our room was cozy but everything worked well. The breakfast was good with William catering to our every need. There is parking that is accessed from the side street (turn left as you pass with the house on your left or turn right if approaching with the house on your right). It is an easy walk down to the center of town. Be sure to make dinner reservations during high season as at midday we had to call 4 or 5 places before we could find a table for the evening.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the bay window on the 2nd floor!

We stayed with Linda and William in July and were booked in for only one night, in the beautiful 4 poster room on the ground floor. Unfortunately my husband was taken ill suddenly and we had to call the ambulance and he ended up in the excellent hospital in Oban with very good attention for a couple of hours. William and Linda were a tower of strength in a frightening situation. When we got back several hours later, William made us boiled eggs and toast and gave me a very large glass of best Oban Malt whiskey in what looked like his best crystal whiskey glass! We were able to stay another night instead of going on to our next accommodation, as the room was available. The room was superb, with a lovely view, the 4 poster bed really comfortable and the treats left for our tea and coffee making were just great. Dunheanish is a beautiful Guest House and is very well maintained. Their advice on where to eat for our second night was spot on and we chose Ee-usk - if you like seafood, then this is the pinnacle! Nothing was too much trouble for these caring hosts. We hope we will be able to return one day.

Room Tip: The upstairs 4 poster room was not available, and is very beautiful but our ground floor 4 poster ro...

Stayed here during our recent motorcycle tour. We arrived to a wonderful warm reception.

Our room was stunning with the best view of Oban anyone could wish for. We had a huge bay window with a coffee table and two chairs. It even has a tripod and monocular.

Nothing was too much trouble for them and we were made welcome in every way.

The tea and coffee tray had my favourite caramel wafer Tunnocks bars on, I informed them it was my favourite and I got a full pack!

The breakfast was nothing short of perfection.

A beautiful town with an exceptional Guest House.

Loved it and was sorry to leave.

The owners knowledge of the are was also brilliant and he was very helpful too.

Room Tip: The car park is a little ambitious for motorcyclists however the bike is safe on the street.

Our room was spacious with a view on the ground floor. Since it is on the ground floor it is a little bit difficult for you to enjoy the view in privacy. But since this is a small b&b, you do not have many people passing by your window. They have a nice garden but we could not enjoy it that much due to rain. The only drawbacks were that they do not have any communal room and a drying service ( both not a must for a b&b but good to have) The owners were kind enough to place newspapers in our wet shoes and put them in the warm laundry room. But this was not enough considering the Scottish rain under which we had walked the whole day. Some b&b (i.e Cuil lodge in The isle of sky) have more effective drying services. All in all a very nice building with good service and view over the bay. worth the money.

Lovely stay at this beautifully refurbished Victorian house. Wonderful twin room on ground floor with good sized en-suite. Good beds & furnishings, immaculately clean. Good choice of breakfast.
William & Linda are excellent hosts.

Stayed 2 nights in the fabulous Room 4 - upstairs, huge room with bay window overlooking the harbour and beyond. There are 2 other windows in this room as well as the biggest antique mirror I have ever seen in my life. (forgot to ask where it came from)
We watched a stunning sky show from the arm chairs at our bay window, that first night. The sunset through clouds, from our vantage point, became like watching a curtained stage. Magnificent scenery.

The bathroom is tiny - compared to the room - but perfectly serviceable. The shower was hot. Found the bed a little hard the first night, but was used to it by the second night. No problem. Lovely big 4 poster bed. Very nice complimentary tea/coffee & treats tray - better than most.

We woke to another magnificent view of the harbour, this time with a colourful ship in the bay.
You could honestly just sit by your window all day.

Our breakfast - served by our host, William, was great. Very nice indeed and the breakfast room has lovely views too.
William has a quirky sense of humour and we enjoyed that. He is extremely helpful, but doesn't intrude. He gave us several suggestions for restaurants - we tried one (Coast) and ended up eating there both nights. William also helped us decide on our best touring options - all good advise - he is very knowledgeable about all things in and around Oban. He even dried some clothes for us - which was a surprise - because some of them were undies and I wouldn't have asked that of anyone. He also helped with our luggage which was much appreciated.

There is a small parking area with access from the side road. The views from Dunheanish are so magnificent because it is perched high on the hillside (just underneath McCaighs Tower). There is a path down into the middle of town, just to the left of Dunheanish. It is very steep but has a railing you can hang onto. Come back up the hill this way, too. Steep - but no traffic.
Watch out for the doggy doo-doo's. There must be a lot of dogs in Oban.

Can't fault our stay at Dunheanish at all - which is just as it should be - but isn't always so.
Our holiday was all the better for our choice of Dunheanish - and if you are thinking of staying - don't hesitate.

Room Tip: Room 4 - huge room upstairs with large 4 poster bed - loads of windows including bay window overlook...

This was our second visit to the Dunheanish B&B and it was as good this time as it was last time we stayed.
William and Linda have an excellent place, which they keep very clean and tidy. They are good hosts and will do what they can to help make the stay as comfortable as possible.
The front of the B&B has great views across the harbour and the bay due to its elevated position in Oban. The only downside to this, is when walking back from the town it is quite a steep climb. But, it burns off some calories after an excellent meal in one of the excellent restaurants recommended by William.

William also serves up a really good breakfast and will chat to his guests without being too obtrusive.

All in all, a really good B&B and one we will go back to time and time again.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front (1, 5 & 6) have fantastic views across the bay to the Isle of Mull.
