Lovely cottage with panoramic views from the spacious lounge and bedrooms. In a superb location to explore the inner Hebrides, Oban is just twenty minutes away where you can catch a ferry to the many islands. If you just want to stay local there are many walks on the island,or take a stroll to the Oyster bar and restaurant.
This is our third visit and we have loved every one as much as the last The cottage is large and roomy enough for both our families of 4 to comfortably fit in. Although we would like another room added during your rennovations because I'm not sure the girls will want to share with their mum and Dad for too much longer and we don't want to stay anywhere else on the island!
The scenery is breathtaking and we spend hours searching for crabs and skimming rocks. We love to visit Ellenabeich using the little ferry.
The Oban Highland games were on during our stay and fun to watch.
We will definitely be coming back.
Thank you David and Jean
We had an incredible week staying at Atlantic Bay Cottage. The cottage is lovely - really well thought out and very family friendly for us with our young boys. It's location is excellent, Oban is half an hours drive away with plenty of things to do and see, but there is so much fun to be had literally on the doorstep with the stunning views, wildlife, beaches and a pub along the road. We will definitely return.
The property is situated in a very beautiful an quiet location and offers wonderful views over the Atlantic. It's the perfect place to start discovering the area, the many isles and sea life. Taking one of the many wildlife tours is a must-do for everybody.
The property itself was quite disappointing. Even though it has many possibilities to offer a great stay, it is really outdated and not well maintained. Outside doors need paint, inside doors are old and sometimes damaged, the sofa chairs were stained and greasy.
Many closets contained owners belongings that were stuffed in a sloppy manner (diver equipment, bedsheets, kitchen equipment, drawers with used plastic sacs). And the cutlery and glasses weren't really clean either.
We did have really different expectations based on the property information displayed on the website. In terms of space, it could be a 6-8 person property but in reality it was not. 2 beds were stuffed in a kind of 'terras entry' which was way too hot (due to single glazing), smelly and too light.
A second bathroom is not existing, it's a second toilet with a sink.
The only shop within 'walking distance' is a souvenirshop so to get some food/beverages you need to take a half hour drive to Oban.
So, in summary, great location, spectacular environment and possibilities. A house that could be upgraded to be at par with this great location. It really requires a thorough renovation and care.
The cottage is situated a few meters away from the sea and two of three bedrooms have seaview. There is a road behind the house but it was used very little when we stayed there. In fact, the cottage is a quiet place close to nature. It is well equipped and spacious. But the house needs renovation. It is obvious that it once has been loved. There are underwater pictures on the wall taken by the owners and other individual items, which show this was once a home, not just a cottage for rent. But for the price asked, it should be in a better overall condition. Conclusion: Five stars for the location, three for the cottage, this makes four stars in total. We enjoyed staying at the cottage, we would have loved it if it was in a better condition.
Another fabulous week on the Isle of Seil in the most perfect location we've stayed at over the last 4 years!
The accommodation although a tad dated was great for the family, had 8 people staying for 2 nights. It really had everything we needed for our stay and felt very home from home.....So much so my youngest boy is adamant our home is not his house and he wants the other house!
The views from the living room are breathtaking, no seals or otters seen but grouse, hedgehogs, sheep, cows & birds of prey .
Two most perfect rainbows seen over the Atlantic and a sky at night that twinkled like millions of fairy lights.
The rocks and ocean at the bottom of the garden are what makes this a place you want to return to and we will.
