“Good fish and chips”

Great fish and chips! I was even brave enough to try deep fried haggis for the first time and it was delicious too! Definitely recommend.

“Absolutely fresh and delicious”

Looking for some fast fish & chips after the Distillery tour and had very fresh fish and crispy chips here. If you want to taste fish & chips in Scotland try this restaurant.

“Fantastic food and excellent service”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

This place had been recommended to us, so we ignored all the other fish and chip joints and ate here. A great varied menu, with lots of specials, it was hard to choose. I wish I had ordered the mussels when I saw people at the next table get theirs - a huge plate! I had the monkfish scampi which was lovely, and my husband had the cod curry, which was also great. It's unlicensed, but you can bring your own drinks in. Service was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and smiley. The restaurant area was quite small, but didn't feel cramped. It was cosy and characterful. I managed to squeeze in the raspberry creme brûlée too, which was delicious and my kids had the biggest sticky toffee puddings ever!

“Bravo! What a local Scottish eating place should be like!!!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

The food produce of Scotland is world class: our beef, seafood, fish, game, cheeses. It has always been a huge disappointment, however, that our standard of catering and cooking for the public has, until recent years, been pretty abysmal. The best of Scottish food has been served in peoples homes: fresh, tasty, nutritional, wholesome, high quality, cooked with care and often simply and traditionally cooked: "Cucina casalinga" - "housewife's cooking", in Italian. Why have we so rarely been able to serve up this type food outside the home: food cooked with attention, care, respect and the desire to place in front of one's diners a really pleasing and honest meal? Well, a standing ovation to Oban Fish and Chip Shop for doing just that. A light, bright, relaxed, calm little dining room, pleasant serving staff with an attentive overseer keeping a close eye on things and really, really tasty fresh traditional food - with a few little flavour-twists which were great. Delicious haddock, mussels, lobster tails, squid, home-made tartare sauce, home-made creme brulle, good bread, salad and chips.and more. Yes, as good as very many trattorie in Italy...We will return. ( And you can bring in your own wine or beer - how civilized!)
