Stayed here for one night. Great location and only a few minutes' walk to the town centre. Lovely breakfast and very nice, friendly owners. Would definitely stay here again.

Instead of starting a holiday camping through the Hebrides I found myself in Oban hospital with a ruptured cartiliage and virtually unable to walk. We needed to stay overnight in Oban and were referred to Sgeir Mhaol by the hospital, Ishbel was a gem and couldn't have been more helpful and concerned, she accepted our dog (but i dont know if this is usual). Our twin room was spotless with very comfortable beds and i had a sound nights sleep, the location of the B&B is superb if you are travelling via the ferries and need a stopover either before or after your trip (with 2 supermarkets close by if you need to stock up on provisions) and we will definitely stay when we try again to go on our camping trip. The breakfast was the best in any B&B we have ever stayed in with lots of fresh fruit and cereals on offer alongside the full scottish breakfast.....the free range eggs were cooked beautifully. There is plenty of safe off road parking and a nice outside space to sit if the weather is fit but a 10 minute stroll will have you in the centre of town (so my husband tells me). If you are passing through Oban on your way to the islands then this place is a little gem.

Hi,
thanks so much for taking the time to write this lovely review about Sgeirmhaol.
We have a lot of guests referred to us by the hospital in Oban and we always try to make our guests stay comfortable. We do accept dogs if our guests inquire.
Delighted you enjoyed your breakfasts but, most importantly that you had a good night sleep with your injured leg.
Hoping you had a comfortable drive home and we look forward to seeing you again, hopefully with no injuries
bsst wishes,
Ishbell and Jamie

Stayed in the self catering appartment which is adjoining the b&b as advertised on the website. Although its in such a convenient location, the accomodation could do with some updating with having stained carpets etc. Beds were not very comfortable either. Parking for 3 cars as stated on the site is not off street and quite insecure. It was pretty average just.

After driving around the highlands all day we arrived a bit late in Oban and had a hard time to find a place to stay at this point. Along the road we saw this guesthouse and luckily there were two rooms available (it was 10 pm already). I got the single room that had a shared bathroom. I'm not a fan of shared bathrooms, but the price was ok and we basically had no choice. The owner was very nice, as was breakfast. The good thing about these small guesthouses is that the service is very personal. The guesthouse looks very nice on the outside and has free parking on the terrain which is a very nice plus. The inside looks a bit old, but I understand a refurbishment is on the way. The most important point though, the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The moment I put my head on the pillow I was out. The next morning the (shared) bathroom and the drain was full of hair, which is of course not very pleasant.

All in all I do recommend this guesthouse. I'd give it 3.5 stars, but I'll round it up to 4.

We arrived before the house was opened, but we had good luck to face the hostess in the back yard, so we luckily could drop our luggage to enjoy the afternoon. But despite we have had e-mail correspondence six month ago, our booking seemed hardly to be found again. So, better double check your booking some days before you appear.
The hand-wash basin is in the small double-room, but there is a small en-suite shower. Breakfast was good.

There is free off road parkıng at the back and you have only a short walk to the centre of Oban. Oban ıs a great place to base yourself ıf you wish to visit the many islands of Scotland
