We had a two night break at Lagganbeg and have to say we really enjoyed it. A really nice, quirky wee place. The rooms (well our room anyway) are on the small side (no wardrobe unfortunately, just hooks for your clothes so be selective about what you take) but it's got everything you need and it's really clean, which I'm a bit fussy about. I can't bear an "iffy" bathroom but this one was sparkling. The B&B is on a main road and the double glazing didn't really cut out a lot of traffic noise but it's not unbearable. It's only a few minutes walk from the town centre, and a nice wee pub, the Tartan Tavern, is just around the corner. Would also recommend the Crystal Palace Chinese restaurant across from the Tartan Tavern.

Breakfast was delicious. Our first morning we had the black pudding stack. Be warned. Although lovely and tasty do not have this if you expect to eat again that day, it was sooo filling!

The hosts were friendly and talkative, even early in the morning! lol.

There are ever so slightly cheaper places down on the "main drag", but honestly I wouldn't go past the Lagganbeg. I imagine the ones down on the front would be very noisy at night.

No parking at the B&B but there was paid for parking very close by. It's not expensive, especially if you go out in the car for some of the day, and spaces were plentiful. Parking was free between 6pm and 9am which was a bonus.

I would highly recommend this place, even though I probably won't be giving it 5 stars because, after all, nobody's perfect :)

Stayed here two nights with my girl friend in Room four (top floor to the left) from the 19th to the 21st June while in Oban. Short taxi ride with all our bags from the train station. Easy to spot with a large sign in blue. Outside is an adorable little plastic bird sculpture which tweets every time you pass it. The house is full of such quirky pieces and while it may not be suited to some younger couples like us- it just made it sweet and comfy. Also there are artist works for sale, of which I brought one small piece.
Our room had it's own bathroom with shower. Water was hot and perfect- Was given plenty of towels in a basket and bathroom was cleaned every day which was a nice touch. Our room was up two flights of stairs- which was a bit of a bother for us with big bags but in general I prefer to be up higher from everyone else for privacy.
Breakfast was from 8 till 9, with the option of having it earlier if we had to dash off. There was a selection of cereals, fruits juices and the like on offer. However- you must try the home made breakfast available on a menu! My gf had the pancakes while I had the crepes, both were the best ever and eying other peoples food as well in the morning showed the full range of delicious things they have to offer. Best part of the stay. That and the ideal location- less then 2 min walk fro a great steak house restaurant and many other places of interest in town.
Would love to come back here some time. If not just to gobble more breakfast down.

My wife and I had a wedding anniversary break in Oban in May, where we stayed in Lagganbeg guest house. We like our 'little breaks' to Oban and have been visiting for the past 5 years. We have stayed in three different hotels and four different guest houses and Lagganbeg topped them all.
It's nicely located, well furnished (bit old fashioned for me and my wife) but as she says 'Its all Scotsimified!' Her word, not mine. But she's right! The facilities are top notch, clean and a really comfy bed. There's wi-fi, t.v., en-suite and a selection of stuff to watch n read in the 'day' room. The shower room was a bit 'neat' but hey, you can still get fresh.
The family that run it are very honest and genuine people who make you feel very welcome and George likes a natter and knows the area really well. The breakfast......................what can I say? I love my grub and these guys know how to kick out some tasty brekkie!!
We would highly recommend the Lagganbeg and will stay there again.

Stayed here with friends from Canada. It's well done, clean and comfortable. The rooms are not particularly spacious.....probably because of the addition of ensuites......but fine nevertheless. George, mine host, is an informative sort of bloke.....always got something to say and very helpful.
The breakfasts are a bit different from the usual, in that there are a lot of options with maple syrup, which pleased my Canadian friend no end.
We would stay here again.
There is no parking at the house, but there is a large public car park at the end of the road....free overnight, reasonable charge during the day.

The breakfasts and decor are delightful, and it's an easy walk down to the shops, eateries, and harbor. You do have to go down the street to park your car (we didn't use one) and watch the ocean, but those weren't issues for us. We had an ensuite room and a king bed, and some would find it a little tight, but the TV, WiFi, hot water, and so forth were excellent. We seek out the remodeled Victorian/Edwardian places, and this one gave us a lot of pleasure. The couple who run Lagganbeg are splendid--super friendly and very professional. Do look at their fine, informative web site. The beautiful pictures of Oban and the guest house are no exaggeration.

although the room and bathroom were very small, this guesthouse provided value for money. The room was clean and the breakfasts were tasty. The owners couldn't do enough for you and were full of information on the local amenities and places to visit.
