“Always so slow”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

I live in Oban and have eaten here a few times in the last year. The coffee is great but the food always takes an age to arrive. We arrived and ordered food at 12pm, just as they started to serve lunch. It took 25 mins for two paninis. this appears to be the norm. the food is good, but dont expect it to come quickly.

“YUM YUM!!”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

Beautiful sunny day in Oban and after experiencing eating beautiful fish and chips on the pier walked along to Dolce Vita for our second treat and had a lovely big cone. Fantastic and friendly service and very tasty ice cream.

“Long wait for food”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

Ordered a coffee and two sandwiches and waited 15-20 minutes for the sandwiches and it that time drank the coffee. Only one waitress who seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and was flustered. Quite expensive and cramped. When we went to pay, we were completely ignored as the staff were gossiping behind the counter.

“Good Only Sometimes”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

On the first day of a few day's visit to Oban, my wife and I took a pavement table at Dolce Vita for coffee and home-made sponge cake. On the first visit two cappuccino and two cakes came to an eye-watering £10 but the coffee was good, the cakes generously proportioned and of good quality.
Accordingly, on our second day we decided to repeat the experience but what a complete contrast we found ! - Miserably weak and completely undrinkable cappuccino, much smaller portions of the same cake as yesterday, an initial asking price of £10.20, adjusted on our query to the £10 of the previous day and when I complained after receiving, trying and returned the two quite undrinkable coffees, asking for a refund, I was initially offered the £2.50 price of one coffee. This was offered on the basis that just sufficient of one to establish its rank quality had been drunk from the cup and this was therefore deemed by the person in charge on the day (quoting her manager's instructions in this regard ), to have been consumed. On further protest and very reluctantly, I was offered and received a £5 refund. Odd in the extreme, given that I had paid a total of £10 and the advertised price of the cake was £2.40 per portion.
It seems that at least sometimes, prices and customer service policy here are very variable.

“The 28 Minute hot roll!!”
Reviewed 4 June 2013

Popped in for a soft drink on the sunday, presume the girl with dark hair, behind the counter had a hangover as she had a face that could turn milk sour, she also found it impossible to be polite.Their was one young waitress however who was very kind and friendly, ordered two drinks wasn't given the option of ice, forget lemon or lime...Decided again to give the place a second chance on the tuesday and popped in, for hot rolls. An older lady served us with a dour demenor, again devoid of all manners,we asked for a bacon and egg roll and a sausage and egg roll ,it was a fast food miracle, it took her 28 minutes to make whilst she chatted to her work colleague and that's with microwaving the egg folks. We then missed our boat so cheers Dolce Vita can you refund our ferry ticket??Prob the most expensive Hot Rolls we have ever eaten.
