Description: Set in a stunning location near Gylen Castle on the Isle of Kerrera, the Tea Garden and Bunkhouse is the perfect place to enjoy a nice cup of tea! We are now open 7 days a week from April to September and the menu includes delicious homemade cakes, soups, chutnies and breads with daily specials. Regular ferries depart from Gallanach Road, 1.5M south of Oban. Once on the island, you have a great opportunity to explore the natural, unspoilt beauty of Kerrera. The walk to us takes about 45mins if you choose the route on the left, about 2hrs on the western route, with fabulous views out to Mull and Lismore. Should you wish to stay longer (and we believe you will!), The Bunkhouse has beds for 7 people. During the summer, we are delighted to offer our lovely new 4m Bell Tent for hire, complete with woodburning stove and double bed, perfect for couples. Our cosy Byre is also available for evening hire, with comfy sofas and large dining table, great for group getaways. Martin and Aideen Shields, will be delighted to welcome you to their wee slice of paradise! Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any enquiries. It's much appreciated if large groups (7 or more) visiting the Tea Garden call in advance to ensure we bake plenty of cake, bread and scones, thanks!

I have been using this little gem for 20 years and I am happy to say that it is flying high once again.
The lovely couple who are now running it know what they are doing and obviously love it. Congratulations to you both - you have created something very special.
Using the very best quality, often locally sourced and even personally produced ingredients, the menu offers simple but mouth watering choices.
You are the carrot at the end of an easy and beautiful walk.
Make the effort to visit this little paradise. It's worth it.

Aah... your words made us smile!! Thank you!!
You are indeed right, we love it here- and really appreciate hearing from happy customers, especially those who've been coming to visit for 20 years.

You're also right- sometimes I do feel a bit like Snow White! Martin isn't quite a dwarf though ;)
Hope you'll keep coming back to visit us!
Many thanks again,
Aideen

Despite the rain this little cafe was superb. We sheltered from the drizzle and enjoyed a super lunch in the charming byre. Food beautifully prepared by Martin. A truly wonderful and yet quirky experience.

We had been told by a friend about this little cafe half way round the island and made it stopping off place on our walk. The cafe was busy but we didn't mind sitting in the sun breathing in the wonderful air and scenery. Although we only had tea and scones, the scones were lovely and fresh with home made (I think) jam.
If you are walking on Kerrera you must make a point of stopping here, close to the ruined castle it makes the walk even more worthwhile.

What a treat to find that the Kerrera Tea Garden and Bunkhouse really is as good as the rumours had led us to believe. A perfect spot for a break! We chose to stop for a quick bite to eat before continuing on our walk around the island.

Asking for a sandwich I was surprised to see the care that had gone into the making of it..... from the homemade bread, the homemade red onion chutney to the colourful salad - very tasty! We sat outside in the sun by the side of the home, surrounded by the June flowers, listening to insistent birds calling and the sound of trickling water. Thoroughly recommended. We will be back!
