“Food and Beer. And Sunshine!”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

The weather helped make this a delightful evening meal and relaxing drink after a long day at sea. Friendly staff and fast, courteous service made us feel relaxed and welcomed. I popped in the previous day to see if we needed a reservation, we probably didn't as there are around 10 tables inside and a few more outside, and it wasn't the busiest place in Scotland, but I booked nonetheless!

When we arrived our table was set and I ordered a beer and some other drinks for the family. I was pleased to see they had a couple of Loch Fyne Ales on tap which I like a lot. Gold Star!!

Food choice was simple and included pub standards- lasagne, beef and ale pie, mac and cheese, scampi, burgers, and a few specials on the board including fish and desserts. Nothing fancy, but all served fast and presented nicely. Good tasting grub and we devoured the lot! The bill was not too high, we paid around £15 each for a main course and two drinks.

Seemed like a family run place which was popular with locals and holiday makers alike. Would visit again if in the area.

“Dog friendly restaurant near Oban, Scotland”
Reviewed 22 June 2013

We had 3 meals here while staying nearby. you may think when taking the road to it that you have made an error, but keep going, you'll soon arrive. Don't be put off by the outside appearance, PLEASE. Inside you'll find a very friendly welcome, tables with comfy settles along the wall. The food was excellent and served all day, which is great if you have been sightseeing. I had the deep fried Brie [yummy] and the Lasagne [also yummy]. Jacqueline our waitress was lovely. Must also mention the desserts, I had trifle and cranacan [? spelling], both very very good. Do try this place if you are nearby, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Dogs are welcomed too, with biscuits and if they need it.

“Great lie local music on a Sunday afternoon”
Reviewed 26 May 2013

Two family's, 6 kids, 4 adults great wee play park, great food, half a dozen locals jamming on their various instruments...the staff were just great with the kids needs...happy to add or subtract bits and pieces. All so rural and rustic

“Average Restaurant, Great setting”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

The restaurant is set on a hillside in a rural location. It's very peaceful and quiet out there. The food is good and reasonably priced. They do have some good local dishes plus the normal fare. I had the pan fried tiger prawn tails in garlic butter for £8-. Bargain price for prawns (although I bet good money they were imported Asian rather than Scottish). The downside is the service. Friendly, but slow and inefficient.
Don't let the service deter you though. It's a small place so booking is essential.

“Good honest place”
Reviewed 13 May 2013

The barn doesn't claim to be anything it isn't. Don't be put off by the exterior, we are staying in a cottage on the way out of Oban, and this is the only place we found that served food! That said the food was good honest food, we have 2 children both accommodated for, all plates were sent back empty to the kitchen. Atmosphere was homely and welcoming booked to go again.
