The setting is wonderful. As we watched the sun go down we watched the ferries and fishing boats come and go. Could do with a bench though. Informative displays and fascinating story. Path could be tricky as beyond November you cannot go via the 1745 house and have to use a zig zag path from the road.

I visited the place in a cold and rainy November afternoon. When I reached there, I found that there was easy access to reach the castle. I had to walk along the coastal road with traffic to reach the castle. It could have been better, if weather was kind to me on that day. Be careful about your safety.

There is a large tower on the top of the most strategic hill in the area. There is a bit of a scramble up the hill on a dirt path. You can go into the tower and up some uneven stone steps up to the first floor. Be careful walking on the road to get there and stay on the coastal side of the road for your own safety.

On a clear sunny day nowhere better to enjoy the beautiful scenery - looking out to Lismore and Kerrara and watching the various ferries going in and out of Oban. Watching the fishing boats taking in their load and simply enjoying the natural beauty of this place.

The castle itself is covered in ivy and mostly a ruin, but you can walk inside of it/ climb to the second floor. The view from the castle is great, its a short walk from town, its free (except for an optional donation), and its very enchanting. I'm very glad that my girlfriend and I took a chance and went to find it.

The only drawback is that the entrance isn't very clearly marked and the path up to the castle could do with a bit of widening. Do to the nature of the location - at the top of a cliff - the climb wouldn't be easy for small kids
