I have now been 4 times with adults only and with my grandchildren, each time there has been something new to look at. The exhibition which is interactive is brilliant and the staff are so helpful and enthusiastic about the work carried on with SAMS.
The cafe is clean and the food although not a lot of choice is fresh and very tasty. out side is a lovely small bay to explore and the staff are happy to tell children about their finds.
A thoroughly good day out.
My grandson is at 9 already saying he is going to be a marine biologist and study there!

“Impressive resource”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

The Ocean Explorer Centre provides a fascinating insight into the marine environment and a wealth of learning opportunities for visitors young and old. We were privileged to be part of a special group visit by our local U3A group, and thoroughly enjoyed our guided introduction to the Centre's resources. Since then we have been back to provide a 30-something visitor with an absorbing afternoon and plan to return with our young grandsons later in the summer.

“Great experience”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

This centre is a must for all aspiring marine biologists. Our children have now visited twice and have been inspired and encouraged by enthusiastic staff and interactive learning experiences available. My 8-year old is already planning his career! The cinema, underwater camera, microscope and displays are appealing to all ages. A great family day out with a very reasonable admission charge.

“2.5 hours of fun”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Well-laid out displays, with many interactive features. Lots of information for adults/teenagers about the work done in the centre, but also some displays targeted at children. Live camera displays from the pontoon let visitors observe what's going on below the surface. Lots of opportunities to ask the staff about the research facility and their work. Staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions. Visited again in December with family, there was a special event on about renewable energy.
