We stayed overnight on a business trip in the small twin room. The hosts were very warm and welcoming and the breakfast was perfect. Janet is a natural and so suited to running a B&B. It was obvious she enjoyed her job. I did view the queen bedroom and it was quite spacious and everything throughout the B&B was bright and clean.

Hi Bronwyn, many thanks for your great review and compliments on our B&B. We have just, this week, removed the wardrobe from the room you stayed in, to enable us to fit in two comfortable chairs. The room seems more spacious now with an alternative system for hanging clothes. If you are working locally again we only charge £5 extra for the bigger room, so we will hope to see you again. Cheers Janet

We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Hassendean. a big thank you to the other reviewers on Trip advisor as because of them we booked this B & B and we were delighted. we chose the least expensive room as we were only staying over one night. it was small but had everything we needed. very clean with a nice bathroom and comfortable beds. lovely views. the cottage was lovely and next time we stay we will choose the biggest room which was fab.
Janet and Les are lovely people and made sure our stay was perfect. i would have no hesitation to recommend this B & B.

Kath, thank you so much for your lovely review, it was great to meet you both! For info our large room is available at certain times of year only, so just phone ahead and check the dates. We will look forward to seeing you again when you are in the Borders, cheers Janet

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Janet who, after showing us our room and helping us up the staircase with out luggage, provided us with a pot of tea/coffee and shortbread. The facilities were all that we expected and everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was of the highest standard including delicious home made bread and preserves as well as some home grown strawberries. It was lovely to be able to sit outside in the sunshine relaxing in the early evening. Highly recommended.

Hi Meryl, Thank you for taking the time to write such a glowing review - very much appreciated. It was lovely to meet you and John and fantastic that you could sit outside so much and enjoy the weather. You certainly made the most of your stay and visiting Border attractions. Hope you had a safe trip home and that we might see you again in the future. Cheers Janet and Les.

Janet & Les made us very welcome... so much so that we came as strangers & left almost as friends. We (4 of us) stayed 2 nights & were made welcome from the minute we arrived with welcoming cups of tea & Janets homemade shortbread. The rooms are spotlessly clean & have a homely atmosphere with everything you would need. The rooms are sweet with sloping roofs, comfy beds & a TV with Freeview & loads of DVDs if needed. As we visited in the heatwave we sat outside on the garden furniture provided enjoying a few drinks we brought. Janet made it special by providing glasses. The breakfast is excellent quality with the the full Scottish being sourced from the local butcher in Denholm. To add to this Janets talents also include the breadmaking, jam & marmalade. The location is slightly off the beaten track but this only adds to its charm as it is absolutely peaceful. If you only stay in one place in the Borders -make it the Hassendean..........We will certainly return.

Hi to all, Many thanks for the 'fantastic' review, we felt as though we had known you for a long time too! The weather was brilliant for 'outside evening drinks' and we loved the banter round the table and listening to the four of you chattering. You have taken in every detail and it was our pleasure to have you as guests. I hope the onward journeys were okay and you are all settled back in. Let me know if you fancy a few days in the Borders for roam-around, we can suggest things for you to do and see. Happy bread-making!! cheers Janet and Les.

My partner and I stayed one night on our way back from our trip in Scotland. That was a last minute call and luckily one room was available. When we arrived (late in the evening), Janet made us the most welcome on our arrival. The room was wonderful, spacious and so comfortable. We really enjoyed it. Breakfast was excellent. Thanks again Janet and Les.

Hi David and Anna, hope you had a good trip back home. All the very best with your business considerations for the future - very exciting and as I said if you have any questions/thoughts you want to run past us please do. It was brilliant to meet you both and we could have probably talked about B&B for a few more hours!! I am still smiling at Anna with her dislike of the 'mountain'. Take care and we will hope to see you again in the future. Cheers Janet and Les.

We booked for a few days but stayed for three weeks - so warm, friendly and helpful are Janet and Les. The perfect location to explore the Scottish borders. Wonderful view of the surrounding hills, nature, wildlife and birdwatching. The nourishing breakfast sets you up for the day. The room super clean and comfortable. It felt like home to us, if we return to this area we would not go anywhere else. Better value can't be found.

Och, Sonja and James what a brilliant review, thank you so much. The house is seeming very empty without you here and we are missing you all ready. Les and I are so pleased that you could settle here and take part in all the exile activities for the Common Riding. Your shared joy with the Borders and surrounds was lovely to share, and the final tally on bird count was amazing at 44!! Safe onwards travel and we will see what you are up to on facebook. Also, if you come back for the 500th anniversary we will find space for you. Fond regards Janet and Les.

My friend & I stayed one night & we were both shocked with the overall quality, warmth of welcome.

We had dogs which we left in the car at the back of the property but there was a backdoor which we could use making it really easy.

A real treat to find this B&B and I'll be booking for next year.
