“Scottish golf tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

Just returned from annual golf holiday in Scotland, my first time in the borders. Hotel organised as part of the holiday, I can recommend this hotel with the highest standard both accommodation and food, the staff worked above and beyond all of our expectations, food was fantastic every night and at breakfast too.
15 guys on tour everyone totally satisfied with the hotel and staff, well done keeping all us golfers happy.

We returned again recently to the Townhouse for a weekend stay with friends and were delighted to find that they continue to offer a great personal welcome and good food. The rooms have been further improved and the communal areas as ever are well maintained, The outside courtyard is a peaceful and sunny haven to relax in, as is the conservatory, and the flowers in containers add to the attraction of this area. An oasis in a lovely Borders town which we look forward to returning to.

Room Tip: '''all rooms are good but the premier rooms are worth the slightly extra cost.

Stayed for one night & we were very impressed by the quality & comfort of this hotel, it is much better than a lot of 4 star hotels we have stayed in, not only the room but the communal areas, lovely carpets & decor. Food was also first class, dinner served by very genuinely friendly staff was delicious. Had a few drinks in the brasserie later & the owner,a very nice guy was friendly & chatted to all his guests, other hoteliers take note!! Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of cereals, fruit, croissants etc. Great full Scottish or any variations to order, all served by a very charming lady. We liked every thing about this hotel & would highly recommend.

We were here as part of a small group. We dined across the road at Burts.
Rooms were really well appointed, very clean and all staff most welcoming and helpful.

Breakfast was really well set up with fruits on display and to order, porridge, eggs, kippers etc, the usual full Scottish very well cooked including the best potato scone I have ever had! that could be selected from as required.

Only slight downside is that there is no real bar (there is over the road) but a nice conservatory, and staff found more chairs and took drinks orders as required.

A real Jewel of a find along with the 'Brother' hotel across the street. We hope to return and must add that whereas, too many hotels adn restaurants miss the mark a little on service, it is clear that the brothers here know how important it is, and how relatively simple, to get it spot on.

Staying with friends in the Borders over Easter we went to the Townhouse for lunch. Our friends have eaten there many times and highly recommended we all went there - it did not disappoint. We ate in the brasserie and the menu was extensive with plenty of choice for all of us, even though we had one vegetarian and one who doesn't eat fish. Very good quality food, well presented and sensible sized portions. The staff were friendly and helpful. An altogether good experience and worth a return visit next time we go to Scotland.

Had an overnight stop here on our way to Edinburgh to meet with family. This is a very well kept hotel in the centre of the small attractive town of Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Our room was large , modern and well kept with a huge comfortable bed . Only point I would make here is that the bathroom while quite acceptable, needs to be updated to bring it to the standard of the rest of the room .
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and enjoyed our meal very much , it was well presented and very tasty with the sole exception of some gnocchi ( rather too stodgy , have had better ones) . Breakfast too was excellent and delivered with a smile.

Went here to celebrate our mum's special birthday ( I am not going to say how old she is). Very attentive staff who couldn't do enough for us. The food was absolutely amazing, couldn't fault anything with it. My Dad and sister both had steaks and said it was the best they had ever tasted. A huge thank you to the chefs for the brilliant meal. The owner and the 2 girls that served us were great too, super, all in all, would definitely go back again without a doubt. Well done to The Townhouse Hotel.
