We had a fabulous time at Orchard Cottage, close to family who live in Darnick and so comfortable and clean. The cottage is extremely well-equipped, and the little extras made such a difference, like the food hamper at the beginning of our stay. Wonderful hosts!

“Absolutely delightful place to stay”

We stayed at Orchard Cottage for one week in February and we never really wanted to leave. The house is the nicest rental we have ever had, and we have stayed in many vacation homes around the world. It has North American standard showers, which is hard to find in many vacation homes. The decor is sleek, modern and restful. Beds are king sized and very comfortable and quiet. Add to that, Melrose is a charming village with Roman ruins, Melrose Abbey, fishing, climbing and horseback riding and is only an hour from Edinburgh. A few feet away from the cottage is a 15th century bell tower which explains why the house is on Tower Road :-) Would absolutely recommend Orchard Cottage to anybody who wishes to visit this enchanting corner of Scotland!

Amazing home away from home! Could not ask for a better home and hosts for our stay in the Borders. Fully equipped, ideal location, just a 15 minute walk into Melrose and close to dozens of trails for walking and biking, and a lovely fireplace to relax in front of at the end of the day.
Thank you Mike and Pat for a lovely time - wish I could be there now!

We have stayed at Orchard cottage three times now. We return as we have everything we need for a restful holiday. The cottage is extremely well equipped and in fact we always 'Stay in' a few nights and cosy up with the log burner on and watch a good film on the dvd player. The hosts, Mike and Pat are wonderful and always offer help, although we try not to bother them. We love Melrose and the surrounding areas. We eat mostly at Montecassino, wonderful Italian, Burts, lovely traditional hotel with very tasty food and Russells, cafe, who always gives us beautiful home cooked food. We also travel to Damascus Drum in Hawick to eat the wonderful mezze, home cooked interesting food and see the lovely staff. We spend our days visiting beautiful homes, such as Mellerstain,Bowhill and Abbotsford. We had a lovely afternoon in Lauder and had a great lunch at the flat cat cafe and visited a little grey shop there selling interesting artefacts and I bought a small mannequin there. We also bought a dovecote and a weathervane in Hendersons in Melrose. Lastly but not least, we find the Borders people to be very welcoming and they appreciate their tourists and treat them very well.
