House-landscape-owners-everything was excellent! Cosy, clean and comfortable house with superb views across the landscape. Easy direction to Melrose and all other cities within the Scottish Borders.
Thanks for a lovely holiday

“A good choice”

I chose Mill Lade Cottage as I believed it would be the ideal location to spend a few nights and explore the Scottish Borders. I was correct, it fulfilled my requirements.

The cottage was located in an ideal spot with lovely views over the valley below Newstead. It was superbly furnished and equipped. I especially enjoyed the patio with its views after exhausting days exploring.

The cottage allowed me to walk the Eildon Hills and into Melrose, a lovely town with its superb Abbey and gardens. As well I accessed the villages/towns of Jedburgh, Dryburgh, Kelso and Pebbles and even went as far a field as the Hermitage Castle and Traquair House. Another place not to miss is Walter Scott's home of Abbotsford.

“Beautifully appointed cottage with all facilities provided.”

Cottage was easy to find, just along the road from Melrose. Lovely interior with all mod cons and everything provided(including dishwasher tabs etc). The owner lives next door so handy if you have any questions. Main road outside kitchen window but did not disturb us at all(not heavy traffic). Matress is a type of memory foam but we thought it was comfy.

Liked best: Overall appearance was very nice. Outside area would be beautiful in the Summer.
Liked least: Too hot in the bedroom, actually had to leave the door open as no windows. White leather couch and chair need a scrub.

“fantastic”
Reviewed 26 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Beautiful house with everything you need (one small blip - no matches or logs, apart from 4 left for wood burner} Everything else was fantastic. As one review said before, the house is directly on village road, although main part of house faces away from this and on to rural vistas. This did not affect our holiday at all as it was still extremely quiet and very close to Melrose, which is lovely. Would not hesitate to recommend and would love to go back in future

“Marvellous Melrose”

The cottage was easy to find and the entry arrangements simple. The welcome tray was a nice touch and the cottage had everything required for a relaxing stay. I was pleasantly surprised by the visitors book as it indicated the cottage had been a rental for some time now, but still feels fresh and modern.
The only criticism I could make would be concerning the thickness of the curtain in the bedroom, which would benefit from being blackout. For us personally, we like a cool bedroom and didn't feel the vents on the doors provided enough fresh air, but as I say that's personal preference.
Melrose was a delight as were Kelso and St Boswells. A warm welcome awaits in Kings Arms and Dalgetty's, both of which are recommended.

“Lovely spotless Cottage with terrific view”
Reviewed 26 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This is a lovely cottage, and was spotlessly clean. The view from the cottage living room and balcony is wonderful! There was a welcome tray with wine and cake to greet us, which was a nice touch. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The cottage's location is good for touring the surrounding area, and is a 20 minute walk from Melrose, which is a lovely town. Jedburgh, Kelso and Edinburgh are within easy travelling distance. The only drawback to the cottage was that from the photos it looks like the cottage is in a secluded location, however it is situated right on the main road of the village, which although not the M25, still has buses going past, and part of the balcony is overlooked from the road and the houses opposite. I'm mentioning this as one of the reasons we booked the cottage was for what we thought was the secluded location. That being said, it is a gorgeous cottage, and has everything you need for a luxurious cottage holiday. I would definitely recommend this as a great base for a cottage holiday.
