Stayed during the sevens weekend when disruption is expected.
Dinner great, staff friendly.
Breakfast though is poor. Both mornings had to wait for staff to turn up - owner/manager even had to be called to open up.
Not going back!

A group of ten of my friends and i had to pre book our orders days in advance of our meal which was a joke. We were in the dowstairs bar and were promted several times to get to our table as 2 of our friends were a whole 8min late! The kitchen were waiting! yet we waited 15 20 min for our starters! Our whole meal we were only asked for a drink once! The only good i can say is the food was really good! just a shame about the staff who are very grumpy and not very helpfull. WONT BE BACK!

Expensive for very average bar food. Very limited kids menu and overpriced "everything with chips". The Lasagne was shocking and the burger salsa straight from a jar. No one mentionned the special set menu till after orders taken.

Stayed here last week on business, rooms were OK but the bar was terrible, not what you would require as a business visitor. I would say that its OK for a cheap stay personally but for staying with work, not up to standard, others in our group stayed in different hotels and I would choose one of those.

Finally, the bar staff were rude (the male ones anyway), it looked like they were only interested in serving locals. The ladies on duty did at least have some customer service ideals. Chef ok too.

Did not eat here due to not really feeling welcome.

We had a meal here 2 years ago while staying at the WONDERFUL Old Bank House, again we decided to eat here and yet again were not disappointed, the staff are very attentive but not intrusive, my husband stated with the haggis spring rolls which were absolutely delicious, I had the poached haddock for my main while he chose the lamb stuffed with black pudding, both mains were cooked to perfection, for dessert I again chose the raspberry and chocolate meringue ( not as nice as last time unfortunately ) the meringue was really hard but my husbands apple pie and custard he says was gorgeous, will definitely eat there agin next time we're in the area, THE LOD BANK HOUSE is such a find to stay in this lovely town too.

Room Tip: Didn't stay here only ate, but a warm welcome and very good reasonably priced food, good portion...

Bar - Great, good beers and atmosphere

Food - great, good choice, presentation and tasty

Rooms OK - could do with a bit of updating, repairing and TLC

The acting manager was unaccomodating and miserable - it felt as though we shouldn't be asking for stuff, despite us booking ahead and supplying our 15 dinner meal requirements in advance to help the chef

We asked for breakfast at 8 and was told 9 as chef wouldn't be in - he later said 8.30

Food was great although he charged us £2.50 for a plate of bread for the table, told us an additional starter (missed in our advance order) would take at least 15 mins, and the puddings ordered without cream/custard should have been - we were doing them a favour ordering in advance but it didn't feel like it - it seemed a hassle for him to help - maybe he was too busy and understaffed

It costs nothing to be pleasant - however the girls serving meals and in the bar were really nice!

Stayed for one night before starting a walking holiday. Staff friendly and room nice and comfortable if not large. Were advised to book eveningmeal and were glad we did because the place was busy. Bar was also busy. Evening meal excellent and breakfast next morning pretty good too. Great start to our holiday.
