I have just returned from a fantastic weekend staying in Tantah croft, and felt compelled to immediately write a review. The croft is a beautiful, bespoke piece of architecture, fitted out with all modern conveniences (wifi, sky tv) while retaining a 'log cabin' charm. The croft was immaculate inside when we arrived and Mike the owner had the wood burning stove started to warm us in from the snow.
Mike had contacted me before my arrival to ask how I wanted the rooms set up (there are three bedrooms in the property) and we were not disappointed to find the two double rooms made up and towels provided. My partner, our dog, and my parents felt very welcome straight away. Other amenities in the croft include two bathrooms, one with a large rain can shower and the other with electric shower and a large bath, positioned beneath a glass ceiling which one can gaze up to the stars through on a clear night (as I was lucky enough to see), kitchen with all pots, pans and utensils you could possibly need, lots of reading material and maps on the local area, and a selection of board games.
Outside, the croft has a lovely garden which leads directly out to the hills and woods behind. The walks here were well marked and of varying lengths, perfect for taking our dog out on.
Lastly, but certainly not least, a bit more about Mike the owner. Mike could not have been more helpful, he gave us a personal welcome, all the information we needed about the croft and how things work, and information on the local area and activities, all delivered with enthusiasm as he is obviously very proud of his project. The best things though were the little personal touches, like delivering us with freshly laid eggs from his hens , and ice for the drinks, and always knowing that any request would be dealt with promptly.

Have just returned from a weekend staying at Tantah Studio, we've stayed in 4 star hotels with less features.Free Wifi, top notch toiletries and towels, tons of hot water,TV and very clean makes this a great place for a short holiday. Friendly owners who make sure you are happy and a 15 minute walk into Peebles where plenty of pubs and restaurants (recommend Francos) a great find for us and we will certainly be back for another stay.
Having had such an epic stay at Tantah Croft a year ago, a large group of us (ten adults) decided to return for a weekend break.
An en-suite annex has been added to the lot which comfortably sleeps four adults. In the main cottage, there's also a new cast-iron wood burner in the living room and a Sky Plus box.
I suspect this is now our go-to venue for our annual mid-summer weekend getaway.
Thanks again for a great stay, Cashins!

Six friends stayed here on an activity weekend. The cottage was clean, warm, cosy, with a very large kitchen should you wish to sit and natter or even cook.
The owner left a bottle of wine and fresh bread for us on arrival!

I spent a weekend at Tantah Croft this summer with friends. Seeing the scenery on the drive through Peebles and up the driveway to Tantah Croft, I knew we would be in for a treat. On arrival, we were presented with a modern wood cabin conversion, with all the charm and mod cons we could have hoped for.
There was sufficient space for nine of us - three double bedrooms, and fold-out couches in the lounge area. There are two bathrooms (one has a bath) and an open-plan kitchen (fully equipped) and dining area, complete with flat screen TV and wifi.
The outside surroundings of Tantah Croft (you have access to small private garden and patio with a bbq, table and chairs, which we took full advantage of during a rare weekend of glorious Scottish sun) are picturesque. The rear of the property opens up onto a garden and a large orchard, with access to walking trails up the hills beyond the perimeter of the property.
Tantah Croft is a walk or short drive from Peebles town centre and several parks - great for children, great for a man-child looking for space to kick a football and trhow a frisbee with his friends. The local fish and chip shops serve up great food, and the pubs on the river Tweed are great for an evening drink.
The Cashins were the most lovely and welcoming hosts. They even offered us fresh eggs for breakfast from the chicken coop in their garden! This certainly won't be my only visit to Tantah Croft. For a calm, peaceful and relaxing retreat, I highly recommend checking it out.

Stayed with another family over a weekend. its a mile from the lovely Borders town of Peebles. Mike and Les offer a unique break with Tantah Croft which they built themselves and is designed to be eco friendly. There is a lot of innovative design that has gone into it but more than that is the homestay style welcome you get from Mike and Les. He sent over amazing freshly baked bread on two days, along with garden vegetables which we made into soup. The accomodation is spacious enough for two families with all amenities including Sky. Best of all, the back garden leads into some of the best gentle walks (the kids didnt complain much) including the John Buchan Way that offers incredible views of the Tweed Valley.
