My wife and I visited this excellent exhibition on Tuesday 15th July.
It was a very informative and fascinating exhibition made more so by the very helpful curator who could provide some really interesting additional information.
John Buchan turns out to be a fascinating local man who's fictional works are far outweighed by his academical works.
Well worth a visit if you find yourself with a spare hour in Peebles.

A small exhibition worth the £2 entry fee to find out more about this amazing man who was a great deal more than a successful novelist.

My wife and I very much enjoyed this fascinating exhibition about John Buchan, one of Peebles local heroes.

Many people know John Buchan as the author of The 39 Steps but there is much more to him than that. He was born the son of a Scottish Free Church Minister, established himself in English Society marrying into the aristocracy, performed important public service in the First World War, served as a MP and ended as a much-loved Governor General of Canada in which role he died at the relatively early age of 65. And alongside all of this, he wrote over 100 books: thrillers like The 39 Steps, historical novels, histories and biographies.

This small, professionally presented, museum shows the full range of dimensions of this extraordinary man. It won't take you long to get round but it's fairly priced and very well worth a visit.

A completely unexpected treat and I just stumbled on it by chance. For £2 you can see a history of the man's life with lots of interesting snippets and some interesting artifacts such as his uniform and lots of his sister's books too, which was interesting. What added great value was the very enthusiastic and helpful input of the gentleman on duty who discussed the writer and answered my questions very fully. Not a massive museum, just a small room but definitely worth a visit.
