We have stayed in The Glen several times so were really pleased to receive a last minute offer from Steve and Antoinette for Easter weekend! We were made to feel very welcome by Antoinette on arrival. Our booking was for the four poster room which is huge with large bay windows overlooking the Ettrick Water valley and hills beyond, just lovely at all times of the day. There is a lovely en suite with huge shower and heated towel rail which is always welcomed. The room has been tastefully refurbished recently and would make an ideal bridal suite!

There is so much to do in the beautiful borders so would recommend a holiday there and of course the best place to stay is The Glen Hotel!

The food at The Glen is always to a high standard, cooked by Steve. My need for a gluten free diet was remembered which was really exceptional given that it is a few months since we were last there. It is a real treat for me to have gluten free battered fish, so enjoyed it on both nights of our stay.

Everything at The Glen is to a high standard and is definitely our favourite hotel! Hope to return many times.

Room Tip: The four poster room is great with wonderful views over the Ettrick Water valley.

Missing this place already! The food is just fantastic, Steve does a great job in the kitchen. The hotel is in a perfect location for outdoorsy types who love to explore. The hotel is right by the river which is the perfect location for a stunning morning run or less energetic post breakfast walk. The hotel is dog friendly too, a great bonus given that there are so many beautiful walks near by.

Stayed for two nights as we were in Selkirk for a family wedding. Six of us had a three course meal on the Friday night and everyone had a lovely meal. The fish was massive and my husband had lamb cutlets which he said were super. We had a disabled room which was near the bar and dining room and the bathroom was big with all the necessary rails and a wet floor shower. The room was cold at first but what else can you expect in February but they brought us an oil heater which with the radiator already there was fine. Steve and his wife were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

We stay in this area frequently. There are many good hotels and this could be one. The room was comfortable and the hotel generally in good order. Room price was high for its size. The food was brilliant, best fish I have ever had, and the service was quick and pleasant. But we had to ask for things such as towels and cups. The heating came on too late in the morning. Our stay was OK but we'll probably stay somewhere else next month. Difficult to be precise but I feel they need to focus more and check on the detail.

We have stayed here 4 times now and have always enjoyed the welcome we get from Steve and Antoinette. The rooms are comfortable and the food is very good. The homemade pate is excellent ( as is all the food ). We particularly enjoyed our steak this weekend after a long walk up to the the Three Brethren that was fuelled by the substantial breakfast. Also a very dog friendly establishment.

We stopped for a night whilst on our walk and had a fantastic stay; made to feel really welcome. We had a relaxing afternoon reading over a few quiet drinks in the summer sun and made use of the comfortable communal area near the bar. Our room was spacious and well appointed but the real seling point with The Glen is the fantastic food on offer, both dinner (lamb cutlets to die for) and the hearty breakfast to get us on our way again. Even managed to dig up some vegemite for a couple of Aussies !! Thanks so much.

For walkers on the Boarders Abbeys, its a left on the A707 and short stroll down the hill when you pass through the gates, leaving the grounds of Haining House & Loch. Just rejoin in the morning walking through Selkirk. Easy.
