Easy to find. Large car park. Room had obviously been cleaned but a couple of things needed more attention to detail e.g. corners in bathroom and lamps all dusty. Reception staff couldn't do enough for us. We couldn't be bothered walking into town so had our meal in the hotel. Food was good quality and service excellent. Our room was right over the bar and we go to bed early so unfortunately we were kept awake by partying guests. Not the hotel's fault but maybe next time I will ask for a different room.

Room Tip: Room 1 is right over the bar and you can hear everything.

The staff do their best to lift the depressing mood and decor. It is an old building, but no money is being spent inside, or outside on the potholes.
My room overlooked the back and there was a loud extractor fan noise every day until nine.
The old doors to bedrooms have the key hole at 2ft from the bottom..so if you are tall you will need to kneel down each time.
Last year when i stayed here there was no bottom sheet on the bed and three broken fixings in the room. This time the bottom sheet was put on inside out and was ripped in the top corner with two broken fixings in the room. Could do better.
In saying all that...the staff are great and the food was delicious.

Stayed here in March 2012 and have to say the staff are fantastic. They are such a helpful and friendly bunch. They couldn't do enough for you.

The builidng itself looks a little tired and with the old wood finishes inside can be a bit depressing. The bar area seats were a bit threadbare. A bit old fashioned, could do with a refurb in the rooms and have to say that I have never slept in a bed with a waterproof cover! A new experience for me! Worst night sleep I ever had, the noise of the waterproof matress cover woke me everytime I moved. It was like trying to sleep in a polythene bag.

Cooked breakfast only from a certain time so don't get up too early. Overly keen kitchen staff: got up to have a look out the dining room window and my half eaten breakfast was whooshed away to the kitchen.

Had dinner and it was delicious although a little cold. The sweets are amazing!

Had lunch here, Building and grounds are beautiful, mature parkland, sunroom overlooks these. Sadly, there was very little choice in the menu, the one member of staff (a teenage girl) on duty was doing everything, so there were long waits for food and service. To cap it off, my son found plastic in his desert while he was eating it - ouch! The girl apologised and told me the chef thought his scoop had broken some plastic off the tub. No free drinks or deserts as a gesture of goodwill, the chef never appeared himself to apologise. Will not eat here again and would not recommend it

Room Tip: The south side has all the best views
