“Elegant Venue & Fabulous Food”
Reviewed 11 March 2013

Having enjoyed a delicious meal at Christmas by in-house chef Paul O'Donnell we booked again for Mothers Day. We were treated to a superb meal, great service in lovely comfortable surroundings. Another relaxing day enjoying ourselves, a perfect Mothers Day. Looking forward to the next occasion we can visit The Gean Lodge.

We had a lovely Valentine's dinner here just before going on our honeymoon in February. Paul O'Donnell, the in-house chef and caterer had invited us having supplied the catering for our wedding at the Albert Halls, Stirling. It was a lovely relaxing way to start the honeymoon after some frantic weeks and months of wedding preparations. It was also a great treat to sample Paul's fantastic food again just a few days after our wedding.

Although Paul is based at Gean House he does catering at other venues and I feel extremely fortunate to have had him do our wedding at the Albert Halls. The Albert Halls is a great venue but the options for good catering in Stirling at this venue are limited to say the least.

Paul has a lot of great readymade menus but is also very flexible and actually listens to what you want. Something that wedding suppliers often say but rarely deliver. Together, we worked out a brilliant collection of canapés, a three-course meal and an evening buffet. Catering to the varied tastes of so many guests was difficult but we managed to get options that were a bit different but which pleased everyone. Many guests said it was the best wedding food they had ever had and this is coming from people who have enjoyed high-end catering around the globe and don't mince their words. This was even more incredible given that we had to delay the food at the last minute to take care of a little emergency. Paul was calm and maintained his good humour throughout.

A consummate professional he provides great food with the minimum of fuss and deserves to be the go-to caterer for the central region. Having Paul take care of the catering was one of the highlights of organising the wedding; we were in very capable hands and he provides superb value. I am happy to respond to anyone who wants more info on how great he and his food are.

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding. There is the main house which is gorgeous and then a lodge on the same grounds. We stayed in the lodge which had about 8 bedrooms and a communal lounge and kitchen area.
The staff could not do enough for you.

A glorious place indeed.

I have just stayed here for a friend's wedding. The setting and location (combined with perfect weather) created the loveliest backdrop for their special day. Staff were efficient and helpful. The building is beautiful, the gardens a delight.
We enjoyed breakfast enormously, the black pudding perfectly cooked, and plenty on offer. As it is a buffet I advise you to be down earlier rather than later.
The only criticism I would give would be that certain parts of the hotel do need a little bit of a touch up, being an old building there are the odd signs of age (not of the good type) here and there. The plumbing is old and the pipes do resonate when in use. The room was lovely but a little tired in places, and cleanliness seemed to be better in the public areas. Our bed could have been a little bigger although was comfy enough.
Overall a lovely experience and I would not hesitate to return.

I was taken to the Gean House as a suprise for Valentines dinner. The setting of hotel is lovely and roaring log fire was very homely!
We were given a nice glass of bubbly to enjoy before heading through for dinner. The food was really nice, though as usual....only 1 vegetarian option!
Overall....a really nice venue, lovely food, and would definitely go back.

I stayed at Gean House with my wife in December and we could not fault the place. Our room was excellent, a very large room with a Roll top bath. Dinner and breakfast were both of a high standard also. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Stirling area.
