Stayed here for three nights B&B with evening meal out of season on a shooting break in the local area. Accommodation was clean presentable and of a good size with everything you would need provided. Rooms had an en suite shower and toilet, TV coffee and tea making facilities, towels etc were provided. The B&B are part of a working farm in a quiet rural area away from the main road.
This was an ideal location for our break and the owners are geared up for people on shooting holidays with kennels on site as is access to a game larder, drying room and gun storage. there is ample parking.
Meal times were accommodated to allow for early mornings and late evenings and all was very reasonably priced. Evening meals were superb and the staff friendly and helpful.
Guests have the use of a lounge and bar in the evenings with a roaring log burner to keep the winter chills away.
A great place to stay and base yourselves.

All I can say is Amazing !! My Family stayed for the weekend and we were Amazed at how Peaceful and relaxed we were made to feel ! We stayed in one of the Log Cabins which are very spacious and well preserved ! We visited the nearby Mabie Farm Park which is a mere 5mins from the Log Cabin Location and is ideal for the kids and Family. We also popped into Dumfries for a visit and enjoyed some fine dining ! Whether you are looking for a chilled time or the more energetic type and activity is your bag then Cowans Farm is the place to stay !! They offer all types of information and are only too happy to help ! We will certainly be returning soon to explore more of the beautiful countryside !!

Stayed with a couple of mates whilst on a mountain biking 3 day break in the area. Perfect location for the 7 Stanes trails. Plucked this place off the net as our normal venue was full & it turned out to be a real gem. We stayed in one of the cabins which was spacious, warm & well furnished. The breakfast was plentiful & tasty & the hosts friendly & welcoming.

We are booked in again this month & looking forward to visiting again.

Stayed here on three occasions whist riding the 7 Stanes trails. Always had a warm welcome and found the accommodation to be clean. A drying room is available foc and the breakfast alone is worth the the room rate. Centrally located for Ae, Mabie, Dalbeattie and probably the trail centre in the UK Kirroughtree. Exceptional value for money.

Stayed here in January 2012 for three days with six Swedish friends. From minute we arrived we were made to feel " at home " and the service provided by Sarah, Dot and Craig throughout our stay was excellent.
If you are looking for a " home from home " on your holidays you cannot get better.Great value for money, great food and great company.
We will be returning and have already recommended a stay here to our friends who will be visiting the Dumfries area later this year

We booked three rooms for two nights (July 14th/15th) in January and even paid a deposit of £100.
On our arrival at 5pm having done a 350 mile journey we were told we were not booked in and there were no rooms available for that night.
Having shown her the e-mail confirmation we had received from her she said we would have to wait whilst she went and checked through her files which she did. We waited in the hallway for about 20/30 mins waiting not even being offered a seat or a cup of tea whilst we waited.
After 20/30 mins the owner came back and said we could just have our deposit back or she would try and find an alternative place for us to stay. (We weren’t too optimistic as we hadn’t seen another hotel or B ’n’ B for several miles).
She did find somewhere else for us to stay that night and said we could go back to her the following night, as she had rooms available. We declined this offer considering the manner in the way we were treated and found our self alternative accommodation.
This was our first visit Scotland and we thought we would be greeted in a warm friendly Scottish manner which was described on their web site, but we didn’t receive one.
On our arrival we were quite surprised as it resembled nothing like the web site described.
If you are looking for a warm friendly welcome we wouldn’t recommend Cowan’s Farm.
