Popped into the Nith Hotel while staying in Dumfries. My wife is in a wheelchair and accessibility was great PLUS we had our Yorkshire Terrier with us. We were given the choice of the bar to eat in or the wee room next to the restaurant and chose the latter. The lunchtime food was really good, well cooked and quality good too. The menu was extensive and choice brilliant. It is wonderful to find a place that not only accepts dogs but likes them too. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome

Room tip: All rooms good

The Nith hotel is a down to earth traditional Scottish hotel with friendly staff and superb tradtional no nonsense food. The room was clean, spacious and well equipped with a beautiful view across the river Nith to the wetlands and hills beyond. The little village of Glencaple is quiet but with quite a shipping history and the hotel is well-located for visiting the area. Ideal for walking, cycling, mtb, shooting and fishing.

We had a spacious double ensuite room, clean and well equipped with TV, coffee facilities, heater, good quality linen and bathroom products. Add a view out over Nith River and rolling hills in the distance, just beautiful. Small village 5 miles from Dumfries and a castle of course, great location for a couple of days at least. Made very welcome by Joan, and all staff and locals in the bar. Prices for room, bar and restaurant meals very very good. Meals superb. Free breakfast sensational and cooked fresh to order. Ate 3 dinners and cannot fault quality, quantity or price. Fantastic stay and a real warm welcome to Scotland. Thanks Joan.

We went here with friends and enjoyed a pleasant evening. Our friends eat here regularly and chose to take us there. We were shown to our seats in the sun lounge and given menus. Waitress was very pleasant and took our order. I went for scampi and my wife had chicken stroganoff, our friends both opted for salads. The food was plentiful, tasty and served on warm plates. We enjoyed our food and had a pleasant view of River Nith and the sunset.
