Was booked into the Aberdour for 4 nights for a business trip - our group left after one night. The hotel at first looked a little shabby and in need of redecoration but on closer inspection it was dirty.
The carpets were filthy - I kept on a pair of socks and wouldn't walk anywhere in the room without them. One of my colleagues walked from the shower back into the room and found that she had 'fuzzy' feet. There were black bin bags in an open cupboard in the hallway, I'm assuming that it was just dirty linens and towels but couldn't tell. The room I was in (no 5) seemed to be the junction of water pipes and was incredibly noisy, the loo didn't flush properly and the shower cubicle leaked so I had to be careful when stepping out that I didn't slip on the wet floor. The mat stuck to the table at breakfast, one wouldn't use the cups in her room because they hadn't been cleaned from the last occupant and another had cobwebs in the shower stall.
This was supposed to be three star hotel but it obviously hasn't been rechecked in a long time. One the plus side the food was OK, the staff were fairly friendly and the towels/linens were clean, but according to others that wasn't always the case in their room.
All in all - even for the price it has incedibly low standards. My advice is pay a little more and get much higher standards.
