These Scottish people seem to eat very big meals, the servings here were huge and we could easily have had just one meal between us.
We visited on a Saturday night and the place was very crowded, 30 minute wait for a table but definitely worth it. try the field mushrooms with blue cheese yum yum

Always thought it was over hyped when we lived here.Went here on a visit with friends and I think the food is worse than it was a couple of years ago, however I will raise a glass to there real ale.Really well kept.

There's not a lot of options in a Sunday evening in Dumfries, and our B&B host recommended this restaurant, and it was quite good. There's a good bar where you can wait if you haven't gotta booking, but I found it strange being given a menu and having my order taken while in the bar. They do tend to push the patrons through a bit and this is obviously their way of cutting time. Quite a nice wee wine list, with wines by the glass. The food was good, and it's a nice setting.

Maitre de was rude and arrogant to customers.

Steak was dry, mash potatoes had a hard crust due to being left under heat lamp.

Bar staff were faultless, would be better having them greet customers instead of someone who got flustered with the simple job of seating people.
