we arrived at the this hotel on the 16th august for an overnight stay. greeted by a friendly member of staff who checked us in. we were in room 37 and were very impressed by the 4 poster bed and light and airy bathroom. the room cld have done with some maintenance In places the light above the mirror on the dressing table didn't work, the bath water ran brown and I had to empty the bath twice as water was dirty. also the morning we left the shower wasn't hot so ended up having a cool shower, one of the windows was broken so was unable to open it and the toilet didn't flush very well.
on the evening we arrived we were given a map and pointed in the right direction by the manageress for the town centre.
we slept well in the room, the room was quiet no noise from outside and warm enough.
on the morning we checked out we got a knock off the cleaners to see about cleaning the room at 10.35 when checkout wasn't until 11am but I understand that the cleaner was just doing her job and checking to see if the room was empty.
on checkout I was surprised to find out I still had the remaining balance to pay and thought id paid this online however this isn't the fault of the hotel and the manageress said she was going to contact the website. overall an enjoyable stay in Dumfries and I would return.

Our unplanned stop at this hotel was a fantastic experience. Beautiful building, tasteful decor and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts and whiskeys were superb! Particular thanks to the very helpful lady on reception on the evening of 8th August who found us a last-minute gorgeous room at a great price.

This hotel was the old style hotel that served the railway travelers. The hotel is well placed in the centre of town yet easy to get to. Parking is plentyful but gets busy a peak times. The hotel staff are superb and very friendly. The food is reasonable and very well presented. I have no problems with this hotel and will definatly stay here again when in the area.

excellent position, convenient for town centre, superb food and service in courtyard bistro, helpful staff and will certainly be using this hotel in the future. We will continue to use Best Western hotels around the country on our travels. So far we have stayed at best westerns in Sunderland, Sedgefield, Locherbie and of course Dumfries.
