me and my new wife had our wedding here on march 7th and we are very impressed with how the staff conducted themselves in a professional manner without being unfriendly they did an excellent job of making sure all the guests were well taken care of and there was a new staff member on the bar that did very well with my demanding family on the Tuesday night. the hotel was nice and good a standard and very clean and we had great value for money the food was good simple stuff with no fuss and my family loved that. Overall we are very happy and so pleased that we had chose to get married at Hetland Hall. I know to well all the work that goes on behind the scenes as i work as a chef in a top hotel and would recomend this hotel. We will definately return to Hetland Hall for many years to come. We were all made to feel extremely welcome and all of our guests were impressed with Hetland Hall and had an extremely good time. The owner is lovely and Marion and Teri dealt very efficiently with all last minute changes. Thankyou to everyone at Hetland Hall for helping to make our day stress free and extra special.

Hetland Hall is such a lovley place me and my wife stayed in room 12 the room was very basic there is no way we would have paid the £99.00 full price for it.The food was very basic and we was expecting fine dining infact it made us both poorly and cancelled our breakfast the next day.It was such a shame because the staff were very friendly the hotel was clean.Would not reccomend.

I use the term Old fashioned as a compliment. The building is really nice with oak panelled rooms, staircases, wooden floors, old fashioned cocktail bar, blazing fires, and that wonderful smell of polish. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was fine, Flat screen tv and clean bathroom etc.. quite spacious as well. The food as everyone else has said was excellent. Make sure you have dinner here, it was all freshly cooked and hot hot hot. Traditional Scottish, nice selection of wines on offer. The breakfast was fine but the dinner better. Staff were all very helpful and I couldn't fault them. A couple of niggles and I don't usually complain. There is no lift in the hotel and all the rooms are upstairs, if you have mobility problems then you have several flights to go up and down. I do and it made it hard work. There is no mention of this on the website that I could find. We booked through Laterooms and they flagged Hetland Hall up as wheelchair accessible. It clearly isn't. The other niggle was that the plumbing in our room was remarkably eccentric. We couldn't run the bath without running the shower at the same time, the water pressure seemed low and the water wasn't particularly hot. We did report this to reception. If I had been staying more than 1 night I would have complained loud and long but for 1 night it wasn't really an issue. Don't let this put you off though. Its a lovely quiet traditional hotel, ideal for a romantic w/e, with good food and considerate service.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel in the beginning of February. There is a lovely drive up to the hotel and a fantastic large log fire in the hall to welcome us. The room was a bit tired, especially the window frames in the bathroom, but it was lovely and warm and cosy. We had dinner one night, which was lovely, and breakfast two mornings, well cooked and generous. On the first morning there was a chimney fire so we had to leave our breakfast and evacuate, but the staff brought us coffee out and cooked us a fresh breakfast when we returned. So no log fire after that, unfortunately. The grounds were large enough for us to have a good wander around with Sam, our ever present black labrador, and although he wasn't allowed in any public rooms, all the staff were very friendly with him.
We visited a few attractions locally and found there was so much to do and see we could easily have filled a week. I would definitely recommend this hotel and this part of Scotland, even in snowy February!

Room Tip: ask if they have any refurbished ones

We stayed at this hotel recently for a 3 night break. I booked it late, and was offered an upgraded room (we actually got the honeymoon suite for the first 2 nights, and room 1, which was also very good for the 2nd night).

The honeymoon suite room was excellent, 4 poster bed, lovely seating area, nice view over the gardens, large jacuzzi bath (however the jacuzzi part did not work, not a problem to us).

Food was excellent, we were on a Dinner B&B basis, and the 3 course meals at night, with a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains, and 3 sweets was very good.

Overally the costs we felt to be really good value, £200 for 3 nights including Dinner B&B, you can't go wrong at that.

The hotel was a little tired in places, and just needs a little time spent but overall still well worth the 5 stars I have given it.

We stayed overnight at the hotel.
On arrival we were very warmly greeted by the receptionist. It has a very warm welcoming reception area, with open log fire Our room was not fancy but plain and clean - in need of updating but for the cost of the room it was good value. Im sure other rooms within the hotel were of better quality, but ours was fine for what we required. Tv, wifi etc.
The staff who were all very friendly and cheerfull. All meals were very good quality and well presented.
