NonaLou's is located just off Dumfries town centre but worth the short walk. I visited the building on Saturday for a demonstration by Tom Kitchin which was organised by Kevin Farish. To kill time before the demo, I popped in to NonaLous and boy am I glad I did. The two girls who run the tearoom (there's a lovely story of how it started in the menu) have created a wonderful atmosphere and the lunch menu allows you to create your own. I had the spicy sweat potato soup and a ciabatta with smoked chicken, rocket and mayo. The soup was lovely, well seasoned and tasty. Foody_592014 below is way off the mark based on my experience. The ciabatta was delicious and prepared with care - I hate a sandwich which appears flung together! Both were served very quickly despite the tearoom being busy. Well done girls on a great job. I'll be sure to make the trip from Castle Douglas again now I know where you are.

Nona Lous is a recent eating establishment- so always exciting news for towns. I have visited twice- but i was not over awed. Although this place was meant to open under the impression of offering fantastic food. Disappointed is the word i'd use. The first visit- the gateau was not fully cooked through- soggy and unappetizing- very much so it wasn't eaten. The second visit (may 2014) the soup was bland- described as Sweet potato and coriander- could not taste anything- only liquidised potato.so very bland. Salt chocolate brownie- looked like average cake with smear of peanut butter.... so over salty. more savoury than sweet!! Cup of tea served in china quirky non matching cups was nothing special either- i'd have thought tea can't go wrong. Sorry- it did. Note to staff- taste food before serving. . The extension is a bonus to the premises- but customers do not go to admire the handy craftsmanship. The focus should be on the food. Sorry - i won't be back

I'm a regular in NonaLou's and would like to say that I love the new extension! They have managed to double the size in a light and airy space but keep the same cosy, wonderful atmosphere. The cakes are fabulous as always, home made, fresh and good value - a real treat! Well worth a visit!

I visited Nonalou's tearoom today for lunch after hearing about their recent expansion.
It looked fantastic, the tearoom has doubled in size but it still feels intimate and cosy. Relaxed atmosphere despite double the customers! I love the eclectic furniture and lighting. I also noticed a kids corner which looked fun! The extension seems seamless and has stayed true to the original nonalous style with a few quirky additions, really cool looking.
The food was, as always, tasty and the service friendly.
One of the girls who run the place came out to speak to us and check we were okay which was nice.
I had a courgette cake after lunch which was so tasty! Will definitely be back and would recommend as the best lunch in town :)

Fabulous place. Child friendly. Amazing cake and lovely atmosphere. Lunches are good too. Only complaint is they don't make enough of their fantastic fat Friday cakes!
