I stopped here after a drive up from London, I found the location a good place to break my journey.
The Hotel was easy to find just by the roundabout on the A75.

I dined in Dumfries but when I returned later I visited the Bar for a Beer.

I hope the WiFi will become free in Premier Inns soon.

Staying at the Premier Inn in Dumfries was a welcome surprise with friendly staff, a very helpful front desk and being able to benefit from the Premier Inn’s good night’s sleep promise which we managed to test out thanks to front-desk supervisor Mary’s efforts to mute a noisy neighbour’s TV at night time. We were really taken aback by Mary’s commitment to ensure we got a good night’s sleep and the pleasantness she displayed at a time when the hotel was at its most dormant.

Breakfast at the Premier Inn was excellent with the widest array of cereals, pastries, cooked food and snacks that could be expected from a hotel of this calibre. All in all, definitely a good night’s sleep and a very happy group of travellers who would come back again.

Distinctly average room - old-style TV - room too hot - no free WiFi.

1. I can't understand why some Premier Inns have such poor TVs - this one was small and, not widescreen, so we were left with a very poor picture size.

2. The old problem that there is a lower limit on air con setting (or off). The window could be opened - but the bushes outside were so high that airflow was negligible.

3. This is a feature of all our Premier Inn reviews. Why, in a hotel chain whose prices are sometimes very expensive, do we have to pay for WiFi? The smallest of B&Bs offer this as a free feature. I wrote to Premier Inns 2 years ago with this complaint and was told this was to be phased out when all current contracts are finished. Arqiva supply WiFi to all Premier Inns we've used - and there appears to be no intention of dispensing with the charge,

Room Tip: Ask for first floor - you may get a chance for a cooler airflow.

A very quiet hotel just right for a stopover on the way to Scotland. The room was c lean and the adjacent pub friendly when we called in for a drink. A slight detour off the motorway but easy to get back on the following morning.
