“stunning views, amazing venue for a wedding”
Reviewed 26 August 2009

we visited mabie house for a family wedding and unfortunatley couldnt stay there as it was fully booked with the bride and grooms immediate family.as soon as we arrived for the wedding we were amazed at the setting.found the staff extremley friendly, welcoming and accomodating to everyones needs.i got to see my aunties room as she was staying here and it was amazing!very comfortable, clean and stunning views.the wedding was held outside on the grounds followed by a marquee for the reception.again staff attended to every need and the food was to a high standard, all freshly prepared.we even had a bouncy castle put up to entertain the children!definatley recommend mabie house for a wedding.memorable day and night.

Coming from London it wasa total change of pace and when we arrived we were blown away by the wonderful scenery and the imposing granduer of the house. The rooms were amazing with fantastic views over the countryside. It was also interesting to learn a little about the history of the house and explore some of the lovely forests surrounding, next itme I will most definitely be bringing my mountain bike! Breakfast was second to none and I shall defintely be back.

What a GREAT place..
I have stayed at Mabie House on many occasions, sometimes for business and sometimes for pleasure and its always been a pleasure to stay.
The staff are welcoming and attentive, the rooms are spacious and there are different sizes to choose from so all party sizes are catered for, the food is amazing (dont get me started on the massive breakfast.!) and the whole place is just geared around a chilled out stay.
Its location in the heart of Mabie forest means its great for walking and biking and there are other great attractions around too. My wife and I alsop had our engagment party here and it was just perfect, a really chilled out affair, very romantic and we were well looked after by the staff as usual, nothing is ever too much trouble.
I have also used the camping pods in the grounds and these are a great budget addition for a group to stay in, and you can still pop in for a meal and a beer and of course the legendary scottish breakfast...!!
Highly Recommended.......

We wanted to be able to use our mountain bikes in safe off road tracks go for country walks and yet have a comfortable room for ourselves with food that we would enjoy. Once our two teenagers saw the magical camping Pods, down on the secluded lawns, they wanted to stay outside; and as we had sleeping bags in the car it was no problem.

The Hotel is only 45 minutes from the M6 north of Carlisle and 10 minutes from Dumfries .

We all want to return to see some more of the countryside and coastline nearby. A great holiday for all, and some excellent golf courses all within 5 or 6 miles

We stayed here as it was the location of a family wedding. On arrival, there was no receptionist on the desk and no bell to ring for assistance, it took a while for them to attend to us. The reception isnt 24hours, which is understandable for a small hotel in the country, but they dont give you a front door key/code to use if you want to be out late, you have to arrange with them to leave the front door unlocked which didnt seem like the most sensible idea to us. The staff were friendly and helpful though.

The food at the wedding was pretty good but the breakfast was only adequate at best.

There is no 'welcome pack' in the room so we had to go back to reception to find out what time breakfast and check out was as they didnt tell us when we checked in.

We were a bit surprised that there was no WiFi as this now seems to be standard in hotels

pretty cook, really nice cuisine (chicken stuffed with haggis was fantastic).
Rooms very comfortable, spacious, you can feel like a princess there.
If you want to spend really nice time out, go Mabie!
And - as a bonus, the owner is really interesting guy with good sense of humour!
