We held our wedding reception at the hotel and everyone was very pleased with the accommodation; the friendliness of staff and the quality of the food. The staff allowed us to celebrate our wedding in our way and placed no restrictions on us. All who stayed enjoyed the accommodation - the wedding suite is amazing! Even though I live in the nearby town I would go back and stay again. My only regret was that I did no stay for two nights.

From the moment we arrived, we were made perfectly welcome by Sam and her coworkers, who all feel that every minute spent in Mabie House should be an enjoyable one. They succeed in making that happen.

The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable, very conducive to relaxation; I had the best sleep in years, there. Likewise, the foyer area is highly attractive, spacious and well furnished, with warming open fires where we enjoyed a drink before dinner. The meals were excellent: delicious food, a combination of familiar and slightly unusual (go for the unusual!) and generously served, all with attention to detail, throughout. Breakfast, too, is an excellent start to the day, whether it's a "full Scottish" or something less full.

There are forest walks and cycle paths on the doorstep, with more not too far away and Dumfries only a few minutes' drive, so plenty to do to create an appetite for those evening feasts.

All in all, a flawless experience in a beauiful hotel provided by staff who pull off the difficult approach of combining warmth and friendliness with a high degree of professionalism.

It works.

My family and I have just returned from a most enjoyable weekend at Maybie House hotel where roaring fires and comfy seating areas greet you on entry to this country house.
We visited here for a family wedding and could not fault the attentiveness of the staff, fantastic food or the beautiful location. This country hotel sits within a forest with an abundance of walks and cycle paths suitable for all ages and abilities.
The room we stayed in was very spacious, clean and comfortable with an adequate supply of tea and coffee making facilaties .
We will most certainly return here again for a short break and have already recommended this hotel to our family and friends. Thank you Nicky and staff for a memorable weekend. See you all soon The Mortimer Family. (Huddersfield)

The friendly, homely atmosphere of Mabie House is our lasting impression after a weekend break. The rooms and all communal areas were warm, especially the areas with log fires or woodburning stoves where one can relax on comfortable sofas/armchairs with a newspaper/book and perhaps a drink from the well-stocked lounge bar. The staff were delightful, nothing being too much bother for them. What a breakfast! - beautifully grilled and huge! The dinner menu was also extensive, generous and served to perfection, even in a packed dining room.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone; it could cater for all ages and occasions. The magnificent views and internal comforts make it ideal for a chill-out stay, while the extensive grounds and close forest walks make it ideal as a family base.
I'm already planning a return visit and recommending it to friends.

Beautiful country house in peaceful grounds. I had a huge but warm single room, with a bath, as I had requested. The reception area has comfy sofas and a log fire, the staff are kind without being pushy and the food is very good. It is all very good value. I wish I had been staying for pleasure rather than business because I would have stayed longer and gone for walks in the forest, which is right on the doorstep. It would be brilliant for mountain bikers; there are even perfect little log camping cabins hidden in the grounds.

I recently stayed in Mabie House with a number of clients and colleagues. The rooms were of a superb quality and service and the quality of foo just could not be beaten. In particular, Niki, the owner, was amazing - really helpful, friendly with great attention to detail. This is a place I would definitely return to but also would recommend.

We stayed at The Mabie House Hotel recently and what a fantastic place !!! Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived - we were made very welcome from the moment we stepped through the front door . After being shown to our warm and spacious, spotlessly clean bedroom, which had lovely views of the hotel gardens and the festively lit up tree, we then sat in front of the the huge log fire(which was VERY much appreciated due to the very cold weather) with a drink before dinner and enjoyed talking with the very friendly staff and the resident parrot !!!.
The food was first class -both dinner and breakfast couldn't be faulted in any way -delicious !!! We were actually sorry to leave Mabie House but will definitely return in the future. It isn't often that you find 'wee perfect havens' like this.
