Best value lunch in Gatehouse! Served in the sunroom overlooking beautiful grounds! Bar lunch menu is primarily sandwiches, soup and toasties! Fantastic service from all the staff, lovely fresh sandwiches, selection of teas and sweet treats! A hidden gem that I am sure more locals would appreciate.... And will be surprised at how 'cheap' it is, average sandwiches £4. Lunch for four with soft drinks was £23 and this included local smoked salmon. Worth pulling of the A75 for an indulgent lunch! Fabulous location, great staff and lovely lunch!

Visited Cally Palace in March 2014, for a 60th birthday break. Hotel and grounds are lovely - golf course good bit testing (but too many "non-golfers" can slow up play). Room was fine, pool facilities excellent. Problem was with the dinner menu and staff - poor value and not particularly helpful - whereas break fast was fine. Shame such a good break was partially spoiled - but compensated by eating out every other night - some great, local hotels with value food and good service

Have been coming to Cally since before the golf course and always enjoy the drive through the gates anticipating a relaxing enjoyable stay with amazing golf, good food and chilling out.

On this visit, and the first time, it was noticeable that gents did not adhere to the dress code for dinner and entered the dining room without a jacket or tie. Last year on a stay the manager turned down a diner without a tie! Have standards changed? Is a tee shirt now acceptable attire at dinner? Please don't let standards slip or Cally will lose its charm.

Room Tip: If you enjoy golf, rooms at the front of the hotel overlooking the car park are good.

It was with great disappointment that I left Cally Palace after a two day break. The service was inconsistent, the food okish, and the suite shabby and tired. The grounds are magnificent, as are the views. Unfortunately they don't make up for the lack of "luxury" in this "Luxury Hotel"

We recently enjoyed a 2 night break in this lovely old hotel. We had opted for a suite on the 3rd floor (room 54). Fabulous room with a beautiful view over the first fairway down to the lake.
Dinner was excellent and drinks prices very reasonable for a hotel.
Golf course is challenging and there were a few lost balls over the 3 days .... especially at the 13th.
Really enjoyed our stay.

This is an amazing hotel with excellent leisure facilities, simply perfect for that luxury getaway.
The approach to the hotel leads you up a mile long woodland driveway before the skies open up over the architecturally brilliant building, with its huge pillars towering over you as you walk inside.
Check-in at reception was both swift and courteous. We were also guided to our room by a porter who carried our luggage.
Our bedroom was large and grand, with all the amenities one could ask for. The views over the 18th hole were of course stunning.
The restaurant and food was beyond expectations, accompanied by attentive yet discreet professional service.
I noticed that the Hotel Manager, Robert McWhir personally met and spoke with each and every guest during dinner. What establishment provides that level nowadays?
There are so many country walks you can do around the hotel's grounds. We took the one to the beach which was beautiful. The 18 hole well maintained private golf course puts most membership courses to shame with it's challenging and attractive fairways and greens.
All in all a full 10/10 for this hotel. We will be back soon!

This is a delightful restaurant set in beautiful gardens and with all the finishing touches of a quality meal. We didn't stay at the hotel but maybe we will another time. The evening began with drinks on the lawn (it was a lovely summer's evening) and finished with coffee in the palatial lounge. In between there were meals chosen from the menu and cooked to perfection. The staff were professional and attentive.
