“The Big Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2012

This gem of a guest house is ideally located, either for touring around the many fabulous locations D&G has to offer, or for walking & cycling from right outside the door. Helen & Jamie offer a warm welcome & could not be more helpful. The rooms are clean & warm in winter. Our favourite room overlooks the rear garden, which in turn overlooks Garries Park & Cally Woods. Once you have worked your way through Helen's Scottish breakfast, you will not need to eat again until dinner. This is why we always choose family-run B&Bs

Room Tip: Room 5 overlooks the garden

Mine was a short notice booking for an all too brief a stay while I was working in the area. The reservation was taken with no fuss and my late arrival was accepted without a problem - not typical for a B&B.

The welcome was just so friendly and Helen makes you feel very much at home. I was in room 2 which is sizable, kept in very good order and spotlessly clean. Nice big comfy bed with good quality duvet and pillows.

Helen offers a choice of breakfast options, dont think she was too surprised that I went for the all in option, and it is humungous! Freshly cooked to order, good quality ingredients served with attention and care.

Erin is a delightful little girl, a real chatterbox and so funny. Just ask her about her school trip to Loch Ken and sit back!

Outstanding value for money for a really friendly, nice and comfortable stay.

All I need now is to find an excuse to visit again! Thank you so much.

We can't recommend this friendly guesthouse highly enough! We stayed for two nights over the August Bank Holiday weekend as we were attending a friend's Silver Wedding party at nearby Carrick Shore. The guest house has five bedrooms a cosy guests' sitting room with books for the guests to enjoy. Our bedroom was lovely and spacious with two single beds pulled together to make a very comfortable super-king size bed - we slept very well! Our room had a very spacious en-suite with both a bath and an over-bath shower and there were lashings of good hot water - the proprietor, Helen, warned us the water was very hot...and it was!!

The biggest asset for the guesthouse is Helen herself who is very chatty and friendly and makes you feel at home straightaway - nothing is too much trouble! Her daughter, little Erin, is also a delight!

The breakfasts are freshly cooked to order - which we much appreciated because it's quite dispiriting when you have to place your order the night before and then don't fancy what you've asked for when the morning comes!! The breakfasts are huge and bring a new meaning to "All Day Breakfast" because we found that we didn't want any lunch after enjoying Helen's huge platters of eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding and haggis!! Helen is also very generous with the tea, coffee, and hot chocolate in the rooms, as well as supplying her guests with shortbread biscuits!! Overall, the Bobbin is great value for money.

If you're staying in Dumfries and Galloway, this guest house makes an ideal base from which to explore. Gatehouse of Fleet also has around four pubs to choose from when it comes to an evening meal.

Room Tip: Helen does have a family room.

The best bed and breakfast guest house we have ever stayed in without doubt. Helen is a very generous host and Erin is delightful. Breakfasts keep you going all day and a proper bath, not just a shower is ideal after a day's walking. We will most certainly be returning next year.

Room Tip: Good choice of rooms: single, double, family and twin all very quiet.

I booked a room for my elderly father who was travelling alone and attending a family event locally. He was well taken care of and was delighted with his accommodation and breakfast. A delightful place to stay with hard working owners who go that extra mile.

B & B, big comfortable room with a lovely bathroom. Plenty of tea, coffee, chocolate and milk in the room. Breakfast freshly cooked, plentiful and very tasty, variety of fresh chopped fruit, cereals and yoguarts. It is right in the heart of one of prettiest locations the Dumfries and Galloway area, Gatehouse of Fleet. Would recommend Bobbin and would definitely stay again.

The Bobbin is without doubt the best Bed and Breakfast I have ever stayed in.
I can (and do) recommend it to anyone staying that area.
Helen, Jamie & Erin are lovely, engaging and extremely helpful (nothing is the slightest bother)
Room are comfortable and a good size and the breakfasts, well, HUGE is the only world for it. I dare anyone to eat cereal, fruit and a full cooked breakfast (freshly cooked to your particular choice) that is on offer every day.
It is even ideally situated between two restaurants which are both no more than 5mins away.
Truly a 5* experience, I really cannot find a bad thing to say.
Will definitely be back!
