Rear bedroom four poster, a little tired , but the bed is very comfortable.

I arrived very late 11.30pm , so missed any noise if there was any, slept soundly.

Woke early, for a breakfast to die for......

Owner / Manger very helpful.

i stayed for 2 nights, breakfast included. the room had not been hoovered, the surface where the kettle etc were not clean, dirty window, although the bedding had been washed, there was a stain on it. the extractor fan in the bathroom was so dirty. when you went down the stairs to the restaurant area there is a horrible stale smell, i wasnt sure what it was. on the outside of the door on the door number plate of my room there was a horrible mark - looked like chocolate. ion a positive note when i did go down and speak to the barstaff they cleaned it off and hoovered the room promptly and were apologetic, however the room should have been cleaned properly in the first place. the restaurant is very tired looking and again looked as if it needed a good clean and makeover, very dusty on the ledges and when we went down for breakfast the carpet had food on it and definitely not been cleaned for a while. the breakfast was pretty disappointing, the first morning we had to wait ages for a cup of tea, the cereals were very limited, there was no fruit, yoghurt etc, the orange juice was bitter , i ended up only having toast which the burnt bits had been hidden under the top pieces, no offer of jam - although the service was much better the next day. the curtains in the room do not hide the light so woke up very early. simply would not stay here again.

Room Tip: maybe a room along the corridor would be quieter as right underneath our window was where people wer...

We booked this hotel for the night of our honeymoon, about 3 months in advance.
We were offered a private dining room for our wedding breakfast, which we were delighted about. Also a reasonable cost for 3 rooms, honeymoon suite, deluxe double and twin room.
I emailed to advise the manager 2 days before of our arrival time. When we arrived, we were informed the private dining room was not available and had been double booked, however the chef, Chris, and Sammy, one of the waitresses sorted this out and we were able to dine in private. As we were waiting in the lounge bar, several cyclists arrived, bringing their bikes in with them which no one was happy about.
The lunch was wonderful and very relaxed, however when we went up our room, we found this to be very old and tired. The decor was very drab, no glasses, telephone or hot water in the room - I was looking forward to using the spa bath but the water was tepid. The bath panel was all chipped and the floor covering was all swollen. The toilet seat was loose and in general the room was not as expected. We did have a box of chocolates left for us which I thought was a nice touch.
We reserved a table for night but when we came downstairs were told we had to wait half an hour to order, then told the kitchen was closed!
Breakfast was a very slapdash affair. One young lad wearing a hoodie served us in the bar (the dining room wasn't set up) There were no cups, condiments, menus and there wasn't enough juice or milk to go around (it was a full house and there were no staff on duty till 9am !) We did get cups (no saucers) in the end and the toast was the ends of the bread!
On the plus side, the staff did the best they could and the entertainment at night was great. Sammy was wonderful and made the lunch special for us.The bed was comfy, we just think the hotel is sadly lacking in the comfort touches and needs a good refurbishment and better organisation. I know it has been taken over recently and we wish them the best of luck with their upgrade

Monday night not very busy. Food at best is ok but value for money. Service is awful. The waitress burgundy hair, moles and tattoos is in the wrong job. Dour disinterested and always saying be with you in a minute whilst carrying out other non service related tasks. Give her a job as a cleaner out of the way of paying clients.

Ow...I think they had forgotten about us. It would be good to have a list of breakfast options. We heard a few people mentioning that the sausage wasnt a sausage as it was square and not round...Lol...that's what the eat in Scotland's square sausage..tatstes the same!!! I had black pudding and haggis which was nicely prepared. Let them know if you're in a rush.the welcome was gfriendly and homely. The rooms have been refurbed so please ignore old reviews as there are newowners now. The rooms were bijou but perfectly adequate to get changed and rest your head. They were also spotless qwityh new mattresses and furnishings. There was a very generous selection off tea coffee and hot chocolate and a couple of packs of biscuits. Take warplugs as its attached to the local pub and I guess could be a bit noisy if they had a special night on. I would be happy with earplugs and a saving of approx 60 £ compared to othwrhotwls in the area. It is also only two minutes from the old blackasmitjs wedding venue which is fab. Some people in our party were staying at the gardens hotel which is about a mile away so I felt kind of smug! Definitely recommend and would go there again

Room Tip: I was I'm room 7 with a good sized bathroom but next to the extractor fans that turned off at ni...
