Food seriously overpriced, breakfast served from hot plates with dodgy music in the background. Noticeboard at entrance shows the manager on duty in faded old gold lettering, which sums up the place overall. Go elsewhere to get value for money. Unless you like hotels that cater for coach parties.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review.
We are surprised to see your comment about food being served on 'hot ' plates. The hotel is currently being refurished and has just completed re-carpeting all the corridors and stairs and fitted all 100 bedrooms with new flat screen TV's, new beds are on the way and will be in place by the end of the month. We do hope to welcome you back to Gretna Hall in the future to see all the great chages that have been made.
Kind regards

Yes my room was a little tired but as I had booked at a much reduced rate I really have no complaints. Had to wait for reception and a stressed member of the bar staff said they would get someone but made no attempt too. However when help arrived the whole process was handled in a professional manner. Not sure what I was expecting on arrival but when I heard so many people celebrating I was a bit concerned if I would get any sleep but no problem, the room was well sound proofed and I would use this hotel again, not for the luxury but for the experience.

Room Tip: a booking agency

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. As I'm sure you witnessed on your visit, the hotel is going through a refurbishment programme which has inclued the bar/lounge area and is now moving into the bedrooms. We have recently had new flat screen TV's installed in all 100 bedrooms and will soon be in receipt of new bedswith much more to follow.
We do hope to welcome you back to Gretna Hall to see this improvements for yourself.

Stayed at the Gretna Hall for 1 night whilst visiting family for a wedding. We had 3 rooms which were all lovely and ours was extra big to accomodate a cot for our 1 year old. The only complaints we had was that the bed was a little hard and the shower took a while to heat up. Also we arrived late in the evening evening and decided to have a drink in the bar, there were only 2 other guests in the bar area and we were told by the barstaff that we had to move seats futher away from the bar as we had a child with us. I dont see why we were told to move as the bar was closing anyway and we were not bothering anyone.
Apart from this we had a lovely stay and would consider coming again as we have family in Eastriggs.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I'm pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us, we are in the process of refurbishing the hotel and will soon be in receipt of new beds.
Unfortunately the strict licensing laws in Scotland state that children are only permitted in certain areas and this excludes the immediate bar area.
We do hope to welcome you back to Gretna Hall Hotel.

Other members of our family stayed here in the past and highly recommended it. Because of this, we were a little disappointed with our stay. We'd told the hotel that we were bringing a toddler with us and arranged to bring our own cot, but the room we got wasn't big enough to fit the cot in. We were moved to another room, but the window wouldn't close and the heating was off - took a while to get the room warm! We also had to purchase tea/coffee/soaps from reception - a change from when our relatives had stayed there. The carpets, etc. definitely needed replacing, but I hear that the hotel was about to undergo a refurb, so this should be fixed. Because of wedding guests taking over the hotel, we had to wait over 30mins for a highchair and a table at dinner and by this time, the toddler was in meltdown. Food was really very good and tasty (I loved the haggis neeps and tatties starter), but very small portions (our relatives liked the hotel previously for the food quality and quantity). Breakfast was again very good, but very noisy because of hungover wedding guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel for wedding parties, but for families with young children it's a bit loud (disco went on until the early hours of the morning) and crowded. Staff were very helpful (one host/waiter did spend the entire 30minutes scouring the whole hotel for a spare highchair!), but were run off their feet with the amount of guests.

Room Tip: Get one away from the disco/party rooms.

Gretna Hall Hotel was taken over by a new management company in February 2010 and I can assure you that since that time NO customer has been asked to pay for Tea/ Cofee or tolietries for their room. Unfortunately this procedure was put in place by the previous hotel management comapny and Oyster Hotels Group who are now managing Gretna Hall Hotel were disgusted by this policy and it immediately ceased.
I am a little confused as to why we have such an old review on the top of our page and we would appreciate your understanding that this is an error and no such bad policies exist at Gretna Hall Hotel.

Went with my partner for a relaxing birthday treat without the kids, the room looked great in their photos but when we got there it was dingy and dark like an old bedsit, the paint was flaking off the windows and the wallpaper was beginning to peel off.The bathroom was basic and reminded me of my old council house. The food was over priced and overcooked £23.50 for a two course steak with ice-cream dessert, the steak was the worst I've ever had.Too make things worse we had people in the room above us with noisy floorboards and we came back one night to find staff had left our room door open, this happened again the next day again but luckily we came back after breakfast. This is the worst hotel I've ever been in.
