“Great weekend at Gretna Hall Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

My wife and I, along with four couples spent the past weekend at The Gretna Hall Hotel.
Everything about the hotel was first class.

Firstly all the staff were very friendly and attentive. The twin-bedded rooms were very roomy and the beds were very comfortable as both my wife and myself suffer from back problems.

The breakfasts and dinners had a good selection of courses and the wine list was very reasonably priced.

We will certainly revisit the hotel in the future as the price for the weekend was very reasonable.

We stayed here for one night and were a little disappointed. The staff were great and it was in pretty grounds but the main reception building had a bright white exteriour which looked lovely but the rooms were in grey buildings and this ruined the look. Our room was basic and the room service food was ok.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with an outside patio

We got a good deal for B&B for one night, room was in the annex, updated and comfortable bed. Large shower room with a lock that said 'engaged' or 'vacant'. Small flat screen TV. Not great soundproofing so had to be considerate to our neighbours. If price right would stay again. Our room was at the front of hotel, the back is very close to the M74 and windows are not double glazed.

Booked through easy breaks £35 a night for dinner, bed and breakfast. We were upgraded at no extra cost to a front facing room on the first floor (room 115). Room was lovely and spacious and beds very comfy. Meals were excellent, lots of choice from 2 menus for evening meal. Staff very polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be back there again as soon as I can!

Booked a 4 day holiday at Gretna Hall on 7th April with Easy Breaks. Paid an extra £80 for an upgraded room for the 4 nights. On arrival at Gretna Hall, the reception had no 'upgraded rooms' so we were put in room 220, a small room with no cupboards or drawers, only an 18 inch wardrobe. The next day I contacted reception for an upgrade, still nothing available.

However, we were eventually transferred to the junior bridal room. This was a dark dingy room at the back which had a cracked ceiling and a small window. The light was almost detached from the ceiling and there were 2 cook house extractors at full blast at our window.

We telephoned easy breaks and within 1 hour they arranged for me to be given room 216. It was an excellent upgrade room which was what we paid for initially.

Other than the mix up with rooms, the service and food was excellent, especially the breakfast where there was a lot of choice. The staff were also very friendly. Room 216 was the best room we had which also had a great view

I would stay there again as long as I am guaranteed room that I paid for.

Room Tip: Would not advise room 220 or the junior bridal suite.

Stayed for one night with my husband. We ate in the restaurant and the food was ok. No complaints.
Room was ok. No blind in bathroom was a pain as we were on the ground floor looking out to the front car park (rm30). Breakfast was ok. Staff were very nice and helpful. Chap on reception was ever so cheerful and seemed happy at work.

Got married in Gretna Green 21st March and had our wedding reception at Gretna Hall. What can I say apart from the whole experience was better than we ever imagined it would be.
We checked in the day before our wedding for a 3 night stay, we were upgraded to one of the bridal suites at no extra cost. It completely started off our perfect wedding, the suite was gorgeous, 4 poster bed, beautiful bathroom, lovely and warm.
We had 20+ family and friends staying at Gretna Hall with us and everyone had a great time.
The food in the bar and restaurant was lovely, plenty of choice for breakfast.

Our wedding reception was better than we expected, all the staff took care of everything, we didn't have to worry about anything! A special thanks to Stewart for looking after me and my groom, and of course my family / friends. We wanted a special and intimate wedding reception and that's exactly what we got and more.
