“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 26 September 2011

Used this hotel to break up a journey up to Scotland and had chosen it purely based on location and price, but found it to be really good value for money. The room was large with a very comfortable double bed. The shower was nice and powerful and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Our room price was only £40 but included breakfast which was brought our room in the morning. The breakfast included a piece of fruit, muller yoghurt, kelloggs cereal orange juice, milk and a croissant with butter and jam. The coffee in the room was kenco and the hot chocolate was cadbury. Considering how close it is to the M6 it was very quiet. We had everything we needed for our stay and at such a great price.

We only had three small problems with our stay the biggest was the room temperature. Our group was staying in 2 rooms opposite each other, the first one we walked into was definitely on the chilly side and the second one we walked into was like a sauna. There was controls on the heaters but it took the cooler room a couple of hours to start feeling warm while the warm room we switched the heater off and opened the windows but it didn't really get down to the right temperature until the early hours of the morning. Most of the staff we encountered were very friendly but the woman who checked us in wasn't very approachable and at times impatient with us for no good reason. Finally, they asked us when we wanted breakfast delivered and we said 8:30. They told us that that time slot wasn't available but that we could have it at 8:40 which was fine. But then they bought it at 8:25 when I was in the shower. It seemed silly to insist on arranging a specific time slot only to bring it 15 mins early.

Overall we found it to be great value for money hotel and would definitely use it again and recommend it for others.

Just had a two night stay here. Been to Days Inn previously but only in the USA however, we were pleasantly surprised.
Large room, spotlessley clean, nicely decorated, with all the amenities you could want.
Comfortable bed, and a nice bathroom with complimentary shower gel and soap.
It is a shame that there is no restaurant, but many Days Inn's do not have one, and you know before you go that it is situated on a service area, but you can pre-pay for breakfast, at a better price, and just walk over to the restautant there, no problem.
A throughly enjoyable stay.

Just called in to see if there was a room available and the reception lady was lovely. Offered different room types and I opted for one with a Jucuzzi, a treat after a long drive. I am always concerned when stopping at a service station as to wether I will get a quite night but no problem here. Comfortable bed good facilites. No restaurant but adequate Fast Food nearby and always restaurants and hotels in nearby Gretna

We stayed here for one night to break our journey home from holiday. We'd been really fortunate and had managed to obtain a rate of £10 - so fantastic value. Check in was quick and efficient - very friendly and helpful staff on reception. The room was quite basic but the bed and pillows were really comfortable and even though there were wedding parties staying we didn't hear any noise. The hotel, being only on one level had the added benefit of no noise from rooms overhead.

Didn't appear to be any restaurants nearby so had to make do with fast-food outlets in the adjoining service station for dinner.

Without doubt the worst hotel experience I've ever had.

Mostly rude, completely incompetent staff.
Mistakes with booking: terrible communication between days inn & laterooms- with days inn being quick to blame the customer rather than it being their own oversight.
Filthy rooms.
To top it all off we were awoken at 6.45am (on a Saturday) by a constant loud banging as 'workmen' fitted a carpet in the corridor outside. The workmen claimed the hotel requested this at this hour.
I've received no response from the hotel or it's management from complaints made at the time and in writing, and can only conclude this is the worst hotel in the UK.

For the sake of your own sanity, please don't stay here. I know it's a cheap option, but really- spend an extra few quid for a decent nights sleep elsewhere, without the attitude.

This "budget" hotel was brillaint. The number of people in my party required two family rooms. Both of which were clean and tidy. We stayed for 3 nights and would've liked to have stayed longer. We had everything we required in the rooms and we had no problems at all. If we ran out of anything, we were able to pop to reception at any time of the day and night and received a warm welcome at all times.

The Pet Friendly aspect of the hotel was great. The staff enjoyed our dogs and when time permitted, greeted them like they were guests. Outside was clean and tidy and there was plenty of room to walk our dogs without taking a car journey.

The check-in and check-out routine was quick, easy and very efficient. The car park was secure with a good amount of spaces.

The shower was fab. The pressure of the water was quite unexpected. Instead of a slow flow as found in some hotels, the pressure made having a shower very quick, for me (with thick hair), it took less time to shower... a great plus when preparing 4 people for an early-in-the-morning wedding. Don't adjust that!

The bed was very comfy. Better than what I have at home.

We had other family members staying in other hotels and they were not as happy with their choice as we were, even though they paid more per night.

So as far as Days Inn at Gretna Services... we can't fault it. Everyone in my party was very happy with our choice of accommodation.

Our main praise must indeed go towards the staff who were FANTASTIC. From the moment I personally telephoned the Hotel to book the rooms all the way through to our farewell, we were treated much more than guests. This welcome made our stay in the area better than expected. Enough so, to warrant a Thank You card from us to them!

On departure, we were not the only ones expressing our thanks to the staff for their hospitality, other guests came back to reception to say Farewell and Thanks also.

If I were to make suggestions to improve anything, it would only be to:

1) add more pillows on each bed (but I'm sure these would be provided if asked for)
2) have a shelter outside for those whom smoke in bad weather, and
3) have a seating area for those wanting to spend time outside, weather permitting.

Thank you to everyone at Days Inn, Gretna Services.

For a "budget" hotel, this is truely 5 stars. Would recommend to others without hesitation. Hope to return very soon.

Thank you Andrea. Keep in touch!!
