We booked this hotel for four nights as a base for exploring the surrounding area and it was very reasonable on LateRooms.

I was a bit hesitant when I realised that it was located in a motorway service area, but I need not have worried. The hotel is set back, away from the service area and is very quiet. So quiet, in fact, that we over-slept every morning, so set an alarm if you need to get up early.

The rooms were very clean and cleaned every day, but there were a few minor maintenance issues - a hairline crack on the top of the WC rim, rust staining down the inside of the bath, under the taps and no off/on hot/cold insert in the shower. These were all very minor and didn't spoil our stay in any way.

The tea bags and coffee portions weren't replenished one day, but this was clearly just an oversight by the cleaner and no great loss.

The big, comfy bed was excellent, the flat screen TV was fine but the rear HDMI input had been disabled for some strange reason, so I wasn't able to connect my tablet and watch films/TV shows.

The room looked was plain and simple and quite freshly decorated.

The free wifi was pretty slow and weak.

The power-shower was hot and powerful. So powerful that it sucked the shower curtain into the bath!

There were lots of parking spaces at the door, but make sure that you give the reception your registration number when you arrive or you could get a parking invoice.

The reception staff were all really friendly and helpful. A special thanks to the lady who told us where best to park in Carlisle!

If I was going back to Gretna, I would certainly stay here again.

With the booking for 3. Room was only kitted out for 2. When as a standard I would have expected 3 cups we had 2 3 pits biscuits we had 1 etc only towels for 2 3 rd bed was not made up. Especially when we paid an extra £10.00 when we arrived early to have the room at 12 and we were asked to give them an hour to prepare it!!!!!! It makes me wonder what we actually paid for.

Good clean accommodation, staying one night, and good value. One thing to rectify was that the shower did not work very well and the water was not that hot. Also for consideration would be the supply of two chairs in the room, rather than just one.

The rooms are clean and well looked after although basic. Pros - lovely staff, good sized rooms for price. Cons - cold rooms (we asked to move as we were really cold, even under two duvets) but second room was just as cold. Horrible biscuits! Free wifi though

We booked into The Days Inn as it was a cheaper alternative to our usual stay. It was also very close to an Outlet Mall.

Absolutely chuffed to bits we booked this.

The staff were courteous and professional, the Swiss manager made us feel welcome and has a great sense of humour. To be fair, the other lady (I am so sorry I didn't get your name), although we only dealt with her briefly, made us smile and was professional. Even the maid service lady was very polite and helpful.

The rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable. There were three of us, but we had plenty of room.
When we saw dogs were allowed, we were disappointed as we assumed the inevitable noise and muck would reduce our comfort. Not at all to be fair. There was no noise, that we heard, and very little mess. All the owners seemed to clean up any waste and dispose of it correctly. Brilliant, yet rare.

The services are a minute's walk away and you get a 10% discount when eating in there (get slip of paper from reception). There is the usual service style food, but there was a very pleasant non fast food eatery in there that we enjoyed.

Will we stay again?

Definitely!

Booked a family room at short notice. Room was spacious and clean, bit outdated but ideal for the price. reception were friendly and helpful. Ordered the continental breakfast in the room - fresh croissants, branded cereals, juices, and yogurt so pretty good. Noise, ironically didn't hear traffic just the odd guest as we were next door to the reception.
