“a warm welcome to scotland”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Kirkcroft guest house, on arrival we were greeted by Robert, the owner, who welcomed us in and showed us to our room on the ground floor, it was a very comfortable double with en-suite, the bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly all night, although the room seemed very close to the road, we did not hear a sound from it, the en-suite was excellent, with a large shower and hot water, all very nicely tiled and laid out, the room had tea and coffee making facility,s, a must in my opinion, and a good flat screen TV on the wall. We went to breakfast in the cosy dining room, served 7-9am, at 8.30 where Robert and Elaine were busy seeing to 4 other guests already there, nothing was too much trouble for them, I was instantly offered tea or coffee, opting for tea, a decent pot of proper tea was promptly brought to the table, there was plenty of choice for breakfast with a selection of cereals, fruit, yogurts, pan aux raisins etc, plus a full cooked breakfast, the cooked breakfast was perfect, all in all I would highly recommend staying in this delightful little b&b and at £65.00 it is really good value. I would definatly stay again. THE PERFECT REST STOP FROM ENGLAND TO SCOTLAND.

Room Tip: they are all nice.

We made a relatively late decision to go to Gretna for our Anniversary, and Kirkcroft seemed to fit the bill for a 2 night break back where we got married. I am always a little nervous when I go to a completely new hotel, but I needn't have bothered at all. We were met at the door, and shown up to our room which was large in the extreme. The bathroom was massive.
There was a TV, and as we aren't night owls, spent some time watching telly so it was a good thing to have. The bed was so comfortable my wife slept the entire nights through, which is rare.
The breakfast is very good. Cereal, toast and fruit juice closely followed by a thorough Scottish breakfast and all the tea or coffee that you need.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We recently stayed at the Kirkcroft as a 'stopover' on the way to the the Highlands. We'd read the first class reviews prior to booking but were still pleasantly surprised at the standard of accommodation afforded. Situated just off the main motorway from England to Glasgow (as all of Gretna is) we, nonetheless, found our room to be quiet and unaffected by any traffic noise.

Our double room was a good size with a generously proportioned en-suite shower room both of which were well appointed and spotlessly clean. The owners were friendly, helpful and welcoming and served a superb cooked breakfast, which was worth the stay on its own.

I can say nothing more other than we were so impressed by the high standard and value for money that we booked the same room again for our return journey (booked at short notice on the day it was required). I'd be more than happy to use the Kirkcroft again en-route to Scotland and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

NB: As an aside, as a bonus there is an excellent hotel/pub just five minutes up the road which serves excellent food at very reasonable prices.

Very welcoming and friendly, helpful with my dietary needs. My bedroom was warm and clean and the shower room pristine with a lovely big bath sheet and complimentary toiletries.
Breakfast was delicious and the choice very extensive, I was offered everything from fruit and juices to cereal or porridge followed by a full cooked breakfast. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The location is easy to find, with it's own private car park and very accessible for the motorway and railway station, a great stop off point on the way to Scotland. I would thoroughly recommend this B & B because it has the standards equal to a four star hotel.

Room Tip: There is one ground floor room with a luxurious bathroom, great for less mobile guests. I chose an u...

As a single traveller; the lovely couple who run this homely B&B made me very welcome when I came up to Gretna Green for my Godson's wedding. Kirkcroft is very convenient for the railway station, just a few minutes walk away, the rooms are warm and clean, the breakfast excellent, all in all very good value for money.

Room Tip: Noise from the busy road, so if you are a light sleeper, keep your window closed.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Oban and so glad we did. A very friendly welcome and we had the front downstairs bedroom which was very spacious and had a large bathroom with shower. All amenities provided were good quality with abundant coffee, tea and milk. The room and bathroom were spotless and decor very nice.
The next morning we had a wonderful full Scottish breakfast and the sausage and bacon was the best I had tasted for a long, long time.
If you want a holiday in and around Gretna Green or are passing through and want an overnight break then stay here. We shall again.
