“Vibrant town, lovely cottage”
Reviewed 13 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Cottage in centre of town, quiet spot. Clean, warm, tidy with everything you could wish for to make your (family) holiday a success. Off road parking accessed through narrow entry. Nice little courtyard/garden with table, chairs and BBQ. Lots to do in Kirkcudbright and wonderful countryside to explore in the area.

“Perfect Holiday home”
Reviewed 7 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

This was our second year visiting Kirkcudbright for New Year's Eve. The town is so nice and friendly, everyone seems to want to say hello. It is a perfect place for dogs with plenty of woods and beaches close by (beaches are a bit small at high tide). I would recommend this town to anyone wishing to visit Scotland. On New Year's Eve everyone meets at the clock tower and one of the locals pipes in the New Year

Thank you for your review and your recommendation that potential holidays makers should visit Kirkcudbright. It does tend to be overlooked in favour of the Highlands which is a pity as the area has loads to offer and the people are extremely friendly.

Cottage ideal for touring the Kirkcudbright area.
Accommodation layout good for 2 couples or family with children.
Parking fine right outside the house but difficult to access especially if you have a wide car.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Glad that you liked the location of the cottage and that you found it comfortable. There is always the option to park on the street if the access proves challenging.

“Great location for visiting the area”
Reviewed 16 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This cottage is in a very convenient location in the town, very close to shops and galleries and the harbour. The kitchen is well-equipped and with wifi and TV it is an easy place to settle into. One of two things look a little tired, and the downstairs shower room is very small - fitted in under the stairs but the shower works well with lots of hot water. We had not visited the area before and enjoyed the various things on offer - red kite spotting, the beaches, Wigtown etc - more to do than we had expected.

Happy to hear that the cottage worked for you and that you enjoyed your first visit to the area. The downstairs shower room is indeed compact but can be very useful for people with limited mobility who cannot access the upstairs bathroom.

Thank you for writing a review. Glad to hear you had a good stay. Rattra Cottage is, indeed, very peaceful in spite of being a couple of minutes' walk from all amenities.

“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed 8 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just spent a wonderful week at Rattra Cottage. What a fantastic location right in the heart of the village.
Although parking is tight we still managed with quite a large car.
The cottage was very clean, spacious but still cosy with plenty of storage space. The outside seating area was very welcome as we had such good weather.
The downstairs shower room is very quite small but a great asset for my Father in law who has difficulty with stairs.
I would certainly recommend the cottage for anyone wishing to stay in the area as it makes a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Thank you for writing a great review. Glad that you were able to enjoy some time outside on the patio. It's a very peaceful spot in spite of being just round the corner from all the shops and amenities.

Rattra is a lovely, not so little cottage right in the centre of Kirkcudbright. With three decent bedrooms, bathroom and separate shower room, it's got plenty of family space. The owners are extremely helpful. Parking is fine for a reasonably sized car, and there's a nice bit of outside space. Despite being in the centre of the town, it's very quiet, and Kirkcudbright itself has much to offer, including the lovely Broughton House, MacLellan's Castle, and plenty of Art Galleries and studios as well as a fine town museum and fishing activity. The nearby Wildlife Park is well worth a visit (walking distance). After last year's independence vote, I was interested in how the English would be received, but as ever, this is just a lovely friendly area with great people, and the Baker's opens early for great lunchbox goodies! Don't miss Threave Castle or Cairnholy
