I'd read about this place in various period living style magazines and thought it might be too good to be true. It isn't. The place is an absolute gem, and as it only has a few rooms I'm reluctant to gush too much in case I can't get in next time. I stayed in The Nicholson room, calming and tranquil in shades of green, with a little writing desk, and a separate dressing area. Didn't really want to get up for breakfast as the exquisitely dressed bed was so-o-o comfortable, but so glad I did as mine host, the dashing Laurence, provides amongst other things the best scrambled eggs. Ask to see Jennifer's linen room, and try to resist buying something gorgeous while you're there. I gather they've not been at Glenholme long but you feel as if the house has been in the family for ever and they are the current custodians who have turned it into something very special. It's Edwardian and elegant yet also incredibly homely. Actually, I rather wish it were my home...
There. Now I've probably spoiled it and you'll all want to rush off and stay there. Should have kept my mouth shut.
