favourite type of museum, small , local and full of interesting bits and pieces. Loved the bit about neolithic man times , vikings and the cat skin boiling pot with picture of the cat being roasted in a picture!

This is a free museum, very small but packed with an eclectic selection of local ephemera. It had a Viking exhibition taking centre stage when we visited. It won't take you long to see all it has to offer so if you are in Kirkcudbright give it a visit.

Its amazing how much you can learn from this museum. Loads to see and the staff are very helpful. My Grandfather was a lighthouse keeper on the Little Ross island and they have a light from there in the museum.

Went to this museum for family research.

Staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

They really went out of their way to help with parish records and family names.

Such an interesting place. Gorgeous old piano where pianists are encouraged to play during their visit. Great learning experience and lots of interesting artefacts and historical items. Well worth a visit.
