Just returned from a weeks break at Orroland Lodge with 10 adults, 3 children and one dog! On arrival the house was spotless and welcoming with a large chocolate cake left by the owners in the very well equipped kitchen that looked out onto the Solway Firth. The owners arrived to see if we had settled in and needed anything but then left us to our holiday. The grounds are amazing with own private shore, waterfall, beach hut, lake and extensive areas to explore. The living room was so relaxing with open log fire and fabulous views. The terrace was ideal to sit and enjoy a glass if wine or two while looking out over towards Cumbria and the Isle of Man.
When not exploring parts of Dumfries and Galloway or walking in the grounds, the pool
Table and Wifi kept the children entertained. On arrival we watched the Grand National but then the TV wasn't switched on again the whole week!
The resident red squirrel and spotted woodpecker was a delight to see on the bird feeder!
The only problem we had was that we didn't book for two weeks!
Thank you Orroland, a truly magical place.
