“Good allround cottage in a great location”

6 of us (4 adults, 2 teenage girls and a scotty dog) stayed here for a week. The cottage is well apointed and has plenty of room for all. It is only a three minute walk to the beach and less than 10 minute drive in to Kirkcudbright. I would not attempt to walk in to town as the road is quite dangerous.
My only criticism is the garden furniture was covered in bird poo so could not be used and in my opinion could be maitained a bit better. After a long drive it would have been nice to have a welcome pack of milk, tea and coffee to enable us to have a drink on arrival.
Other than that minor detail the cottage is fantastic affording great views in a lovely setting. I would reccomend this as a good place to stay for families and groups.

“Nicely remote with a lovely mix of character and modern facilities”
Reviewed 13 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The cottage had character and the picture window seats were lovely with great views across the bay. The kitchen was well equipped and we liked the combination of under floor heating and a real fire when we felt like it with plenty of logs and kindling to keep us going. Our family have all voted that we want to come back! Kirkudbright was lovely too and we'd like to explore the town more next time.

“Stunning Views”
Reviewed 25 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Stunning cottage, cosy and clean. Picture window in kitchen gave amazing views across farmland and down to the Bay. The cottage had everything that you needed, everything well arranged. Weather was great for the week too so it was nice to sit out and enjoy the peace and tranquility that the cottage had to offer. Booking process was easy and responses all very quick, also Cathie the caretaker for the property was always available if necc. Also met a local builder at the property and he gave us lots of local info and places to visit, very friendly people. Good food at Selkirk Arms Hotel, probably the best Rib Eye Steak I have had and cooked just as asked. Nice location. As previous reviews Wifi would be helpful and wardrobe in main bedroom needs something a bit more solid.

Lovely spacious yet cosy cottage situated on a gentle hillside overlooking Kirkcudbright bay within a short car journey of the towns and villages this area has to offer. Enclosed garden ideal for dogs. Cottage very clean and well maintained and so peaceful; the clear night skies are a dream for star gazers.
Thoroughly recommended and will certainly return.

“Real gem of a place!”

The photos don't do this place justice. The views here are amazing. Its at the top of a small hill along a farm track a short walk to a lovely beach- perfect for walking the dog. We even saw a small deer, pheasant, all sorts of birds, including red kites. The track was a bit tricky at the bottom but its being sorted next week so that should make access easy. The cottage has everything you need including games, scrabble, Jenga, cards, books and lots of info about the area, what to see, walks to go on and general advice. Kitchen facilities are excellent and the bathrooms are modern and well equipped. The lounge has a 2 seater sofa and 2 large comfy chairs- a foot stool would be a good idea. There is a log burning stove in the lounge, with under floor heating else where and heaters in the bedrooms. The bedrooms are a good size although they could do with purchasing a wardrobe for the main bedroom. There is hanging space behind the door but its a bit of a pain. There is a large chest of drawers and a large chair which could be replaced with a wardrobe. There is a large enclosed garden with table and chairs, which was lovely sitting at admiring the view. We ate out at The Selkirk arms which was a really great place to eat. Sunday lunch was better than average. Kirkcudbright is one of the nicest places around this area and has several good places to eat including a decent chippy with Seabass scallops etc. Really glad we decided to book this cottage as I must say we were really unsure when we originally booked.

Management Response

Thank you for that review. The track has now been resurfaced and is easy to drive on. I take your point about wardrobe space and I will change the furnishing in the double bedroom possibly next year. In the mean time, I have purchased a small canvas wardrobe which fits into the room and gives some extra hanging space.
