“Great day out if you are patient...”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Very good day out.

Okay the access road trip isn't great, but fine if you take it slowly and carefully. Animals all looked well cared for and had varied habitat - it is a wildlife park not a zoo. If they aren't visible when you first walk round then have a cup of tea and go round again, most will be out. We saw all the animals bar one, (even if the wolves were not unsurprisingly quite shy).

Staff were helpful - if you asked, it isn't difficult!

It is what it is, the most important bit being the care they obviously give all the animals. Would benefit from increased visitor numbers, so don't be put off by some of the comments on here.

“!!! Suprisingly good, needs help n support though !!!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

Now this place needs some help, some donations, some workers, some local businesses to help them get the place on its feet and get their name out there. Its a shame for the place as its a great hidden gem and more people shoukld be going up to go round the park.
It does need work and they are trying to get the work done slowly by the looks of things. They have some great animals, and they have some large areas to roam and freedom to walk around.
Please if people are reading this review please go try visit the road in is very rocky and long but its worth heading round to see the park. This part would make you turn back as does the car park, but dont keep going and go in have a look around, youll be surprised at the same time as wanting to help them, as they werent many staff when we went..
They need some help so go support them and visit or even ask if they need help....please..

“run down and disappointing”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

this was meant to be a conservation park but was infact a run down and unsafe place to visit. All enclosures were full of high nettles,The animals had little to keep them happy. the enclosures didnt seem very secure and made me feel extremely nervous.

“really disappointed waste of money”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

we took our son (age 4) here and we couldn't believe the state of the place and only stayed for about 30 minutes. the road into it is really bad lots of blind spots, not sure what would have happened if we had met a car or a bus. the animals just looked sad, their enclosures were full of nettle's and thistles. big high nettles everywhere in fact, I had to keep telling my son to be careful as he was wearing shorts and t-shirt. the water in the otter enclosure looked disgusting, it didn't look like they would be swimming in it anytime soon. we wont be back

This is a charming wildlife centre which is family run and very friendly. The animals are well looked after with excellent enclosures and the whole experience was wonderful. getting up close and personal with many gorgeous creatures and seeing several endangered species at close hand was a wonderful. The cafe was excellent and they even have a small gift shop.
Sadly this is not a very well known wildlife centre and as a result can be very quiet and the owners obviously are managing to look after the animals, but I think may be struggling to keep it going. It is well worth the trip if near Kirkcudbright. Great for kids - just as great for couples - the walk through the adjacent woodland is magical. HIGHLY recommended!
