“A Christmas to remember thanks to Dumcrieff House!”

We decided to book Dumcrieff House for the Christmas period in order to allow the extended family to get together and share the festive season with one another. What a great decision that was! The house was beautifully appointed and very tastefully decorated. On our arrival we were met by and made most welcome by the owners, Philip and Demetra who showed us round and then left us to settle in. The accommodation was everything that we could have wished for in a festive season let, so where do I begin and how can I do it justice? The en suite bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious with beautiful rural views. The lower floor of the house was made up of a number of very spacious rooms ranging from the homely kitchen area through to the main sitting/drawing rooms where there were wood burning stoves and couched areas. This was where we opened our Christmas presents by the tree in front of the wood burning stove. The dining room deserves special mention as it was of ‘Downton Abbey’ proportions and was just what we needed for our large family get together. The billiards room was also a great hit with the younger generations in particular i.e. those below the age of eighty! I could continue to wax lyrical about our festive season stay at Dumcrieff House but suffice to say that the property added in no small part to us have one of the most pleasurable and memorable Christmases ever, and I’d very much like to think that one day we will return to enjoy the elegance and style that Dumcrieff House has to offer.

Liked best: The overall ambience of the classical property.
Liked least: Bedrooms were a little cooler than hoped for, but hey it's December and a very old property so not a big issue.

We had a fantastic time at dumcrieff house, from the moment we stepped through the door. the decor and standards were just what we hoped they would be, extensive grounds with deer passing through a loveley babbling river running past the house, we had a light sprinkling of snow and made a snowman with the kids, in essence we made the house our own for the weekend, and it was perfect

“Wonderful house - so much more than expected.”

Myself and my family and friends stayed here in December for my 'big' birthday weekend. I swithered to start with, as it was more expensive than some other properties, but I am so pleased I decided on Dumcrieff as it was exceptional value for money. It is huge - every room has loads of space and is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The dining room seats 14 comfortably at the big table, but another table along the top extends that number - we had 16 seated for a meal. There are candles and table decorations - the owners have thought of everything. The kitchen is very well equipped; we'd taken things like potato peelers with us, but they weren't required as the drawers are literally full of all sorts of different utensils, way better than other self-catering establishments I have stayed at. There are even lots of foodstuffs that you can use, but we had brought everything that we needed - a nice touch though. The utility room contains everything you could possible want for cleaning and washing and there is more than enough crockery and cutlery for everyone. The owners, Phillip and his wife, couldn't do enough for us and were so helpful both before and after our visit when I inadvertently left something behind. The welcome pack was especially kind of them - they are a really lovely couple. The beds are so comfortable and the silence at night is just wonderful when you're used to the constant noise of a city. The showers are powerful and there are several baths too and whilst not all bedrooms are en-suite, there are plenty bathrooms to go around. I felt like the lady of the manor and all the guests raved about it. The boys loved the big snooker table and the reception rooms had plenty of chairs and sofas for lounging around. The house and grounds were especially beautiful with snow on the ground and, with the Christmas decorations up, it was everything and more I could have hoped for. There were even baskets and baskets of logs provided for the wood burning stoves, which gave a lovely homely feel to the big rooms. It was a really special weekend and I believe the house had a lot to do with that. We were very grateful for the directions from Phillip beforehand as the Sat Nav doesn't quite take you to the house, but following his directions meant we found the property no bother. I can highly recommend Dumcrieff - book it - you will love it.

“A Wonderful Wedding Weekend In An Outstanding Country Retreat”

We booked Dumcrieff House for a quiet family wedding event and it didn't disappoint. The owners were fantastic to deal with and very generous with gifts on our arrival. The house was spotless and the standards of all facilities were excellent and up to date. The house sits in a private position in its own grounds but is still not too far from Moffat (within walking distance for most). We can thoroughly recommend Dumcrieff and would definitely stay again.

Myself and and 14 mates stayed here for the weekend for a mixture of Biking and Golfing.
Ideally situated for both activities being central to quite a few of the 7 Stanes biking centres.
Stunning property and grounds (which we never even got to see 90% of!)
Immaculately clean and very well furnished rooms with quality fittings and linen.
A 5 min drive (we actually walked) into Moffat high street where everything is available.
I cannot recommend this enough to large groups, much more luxurious than staying in all but the finest of hotels and a great deal more social.

We travelled as a group of 14 girls for a wknd away. The house is absolutely stunning and we couldn't believe the value for money. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather so made the most of the stunning view from the terrace at the back of the house. I honestly couldn't pic a fault with the place and will most definately be back. The house was clean and had amazing modern facilities in the bathrooms and kitchens without taking the historic feel away from this gorgeous house. We will most definately be back. Thank you
