Can’t really say a lot more. It’s cheap, well located and the service is ok. Can’t say much more, new carpets recently and the rooms are all reasonable. The coffee isn’t great but otherwise no grumbles. Must’ve stayed here 10 times in the last couple of years, never been bad, never been exceptional either.

I had been invited to speak at a silversmithing conference and funds were tight - in otherwords, 'it would be appreciated if you could fund your accommodation and travel expenses'. I am a great fan of Holiday Inn Epress as 1. they are generally located centrally and 2. ithe further you book in advance, the better the rate. Also join the IHG programme and you are assured 'best rate'. A bit of a no brainer really. I have never been disappointed. These are three star hotels which offer free breakfast and WiFi. There were A1 restaurants nearby and everything I needed in the city was easily accessible. The staff were also great. What more could one want?

Room tip: The higher the floor and further from the lift the quieter

I was unlucky here - the first room I went in had a bad smell and stained carpet so I was moved to another room - more packing and unpacking! I was only in the second room briefly as I was phoned to say that it had already been allocated to someone else so was moved again. The third room was fine - quiet and newly refurbished. No problems except I could not get the TotV to work as it asked me to retune, so the maintenance came very quickly to sort it out. The weather when I was there was terrible - rain and cold (in June!) and I could not get the heater to work, but once again the hotel fixed it. Breakfast was good - egg, bacon, sausage, croissants, fruit, yogurt, nice coffee, toast etc - all included. Reception staff were excellent - they sorted out all my problems (and there were a few).

Room tip: The even numbered rooms are quiet and the river views are noisy
